Issues, Issues, which Issue matters? [1]

All and none. We are not going to “win” over one single person that hasn’t by now changed their own mind.
I’ve come to the conclusion that in the end, it will not make a difference which issues we focus on and which we don’t. Because, let’s be honest if people haven’t been swayed, moved, if they aren’t concerned and worried about things that are happening right now in the country enough to vote in a way to mitigate in the short term and reverse in the long term the advance of fascism… what we run on or not isn’t going to make a difference.
I know some will say, but misinformation and disinformation, or echo chambers and bubbles, my answer is simple, there are no more chambers and bubbles, the things that are happening, are happening all over the country and are affecting everyone. Reality is in everyone’s face, people are living in the moment, most cannot help but see the rising costs, the raids, feel the effects of the changes.
I think a better strategy than fighting on which issue should be front and center, would be voter motivation and guidelines.
Keep pushing upcoming local elections
Keep pushing midterm elections
Keep pushing candidates
Give information on what one needs to vote
How to register
How to get ID / do change of address
And as stated before, instead of pushing issues, put out the effect the laws are having, the intended and unintended consequences, the personal stories, and I’m not only talking about deportation stories, the stories of people who would suffer from cuts to social benefits, the stories of those victimized by the bathroom bills, etc..
If someone living today in the US isn’t aware of what’s going on, how are they going to be aware of our campaigns “on issues?” as we use the same circuits they don’t follow? But few today are unaware in my opinion because what’s happening is affecting their lives and will affect it more and more as time goes on. Real life can only be ignore for so long.
All these talks and analytics as to what went wrong, what we can do, at this point in time to me aren’t going to change a darn thing. Anyone that can bear witness to authoritarian regime spreading and gaining ground and hasn’t changed their own minds… is still either for it or delusional about it… and nothing you or I can say will win them over.
