I don’t care who people voted for, I don’t care what crimes they committed, when it comes to people being abused, hurt, tortured, beaten, killed what they did is not part of my equation for my standing up for them.
I can’t believe that there are people who actually think that people who’ve committed crimes are somehow fair game for abuse. This is the same BS some people believe that makes Georges Floyd’s death acceptable… well he was a drug addict, well he had a fake 20$ bill.
Abuse is abuse, either you are against it or you are fine with it as long as you get to pick and chose your victims, in which case you’ve lost the right to position yourself on the right side of anything, for your values are as corrupt as the fascists you claim to be against.
I honestly don’t know why this concept is so hard for some to realize, my guess is that people who think like that are not really as “good” as they think they are.
If you can find excuses or exception to feeling something is wrong, it is the same damn thing as finding that certain categories of people deserve to be mistreated… like immigrants or minorities. It is the same effing principle. There’s no daylight between deciding who is an acceptable victim and who is an acceptable demographic to traumatize.
The reason some people don’t get that, is because they don’t actually believe in what they preach. That’s also why it’s so easy for them to say “I’m fighting for everyone’s rights but your rights can wait a bit more”, you know the kind that claim to believe in women’s rights but still don’t blink when hearing that to this day women get paid less for equal work, the kind that claim to believe in racial equality but we’ve made progress so you really shouldn’t complain… that is not how belief in something works! Dammit!
Can you imagine claiming to be against child abuse but looking the other way because well “that child is a brat”? Does that make any sort of sense in these people’s minds? How can you claim to be against something but fail to stand up for it, depending on who is on the receiving end? What kind of fucked up logic is that?
This is why this country will never get to where it’s going soon, because some people have half baked beliefs they’ve not bothered to analyze but go around proudly sporting emojis and flags and making grand claims, but when something happens to someone they don’t like, they’re full of foul smelling glee “they deserved it” and don’t even realize they’re just as hate filled as those they hate, just with different targets. Guess what? Serial killers have specific targets too, they are still all serial killers!
Yes I’m pissed.
