Wednesday Woozles: Are You Keeping Cool? [1]

Good day, Peeps. I hope everyone is staying cool in this Summer heat. First things first,

A gentle reminder of how we do things: đŸ±đŸ¶đŸŠ Do not troll the diary. If you hate pootie diaries, leave now. No harm, no foul.

Please do share pics of your fur kids! If you have health/behavior issues with your pets, feel free to bring it to the community.

Pooties are cats; Woozles are dogs. Birds... are birds! Peeps are people.

Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. If you’re having “issues” with another Kossack, keep it “out there.” This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly. There are some pics we never post: snakes, creepy crawlies, any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals. These are considered “out of bounds” and will not be tolerated. If we alert you to it, please remember that we do have phobic peeps who react strongly to them. If you keep posting banned pics...well then...the Tigress will have to take matters in hand. Or, paw.

A cold front passed through my area Monday afternoon. It brought our temperatures down from about 95 with dew points in the upper 70s to the 60s. It’s still sticky but at least it’s more comfortable. I suspected the thunderstorms that front triggered might knock out my computer’s connection. I was right. It did. Twice. But since both my computers are working fine now I can finish up this diary’s text.

As I was looking through the images that appeared when I entered dogs+keeping+cool several sites also popped up on preventing, spotting, and treating heatstroke in dogs. I thought they might be of use to someone who lives under this current heat dome. Those who live in the western part of this country can use them when your weather warms up. And you know it will.

The symptoms of heatstroke in cats are basically the same as those for dogs. One notable difference is any time your cat pants it’s a sign of a serious health problem. Once when we had a heat wave my late pootie Creampuff began panting. Bowls of ice water weren’t enough to keep her cool. I took her in to my bathtub, grabbed the shower wand and blasted her head with cold water. I couldn’t keep her in there for long but that wet head and foot pads were enough to stop her panting. That seemed to be all it took to cool her off. There was no need to drive her the two hours, in a car with no air conditioning, to the nearest vet hospital.

Now on to the cute pics.

So what’s happening with your critters?
