There is an special election for an empty San Diego County Board of Supervisors seat on July 1st. The board is deadlocked currently with 2 Democratic and 2 Republican sitting members. Everyone has forgotten about this special election except the republicans. I asked my son to register as a republican when he reached 18 years old. So far he has received about a dozen mailings reminding him to vote for the R candidate. I registered as non-partisan long ago. I have received about a half dozen mailings about voting for the R candidate (all without identifying his party). We have received 0 reminders from the Democratic candidate. The only real issue the repubs seem agitated about is repealing the sanctuary status of the county. They are going for the throat. It seems we are counting on the area staying reliably in Democratic hands. The response I received from the Democratic candidate wasn’t encouraging.
