CARTOON: 10,000 Grandmothers - Bully Busting [1]

All my adult life I always voted for the candidate, not any particular party affiliation. A lot of votes were for the lessor of two evils. And life went on in our democratic republic. But in 2016, an alarming seed, no a virus, appeared as the Republican campaign. I’ve watched it stoke fear, hate, greed and violence among millions of Americans. I do not hate any of my fellow Americans. I hate the virus that is bigger than any one of us. In 2023, I could no longer remain silent. I had my children’s and grandchildren’s futures to protect.

The immediate cure is for Congress and the Supreme Court to do their jobs (oversight and judicial review) and enforce the checks and balances power they have per Constitutional Law. In the meantime, I will continue to stand up and fight for democracy in my own peaceful protest way.

Below are excerpts that helped me understand this virus and some actions I am taking.

Self-Absorbed 1

by Sara Regan

A self-absorbed person is someone who is only concerned about themselves and shows little

interest in or care for others. We see this behavior in children between the ages of

2 and 6. For adults who are self-absorbed, "it's almost like they never outgrew that stage—even if they have great scripts and can mask their self-absorption."

7 common signs to look out for:

They call all the shots. They make everything a competition. They use manipulation to get their way. They always respond to your problems with toxic positivity. They know how to mask their selfishness. They're always the center of attention. Their openness might be charming at first.

"It's exhausting, like someone's stealing your energy. You dread the interaction before, during, and after."

Set your boundaries firmly, hold to them. And if they don't like that, they're ultimately not someone you want in your life. Here are some behavior boundaries and actions this Gramma takes to get the bum out of my life.

Fascism: In memory of the holocaust, I will not remain silent. We must stand up and speak out, not because something is left or right, but if it is right or wrong. I’m contacting our elected officials, so our children and grandchildren don't have to grow up in a dictatorship.

Voting: I don’t think I can ever vote Republican again. Unless they prove they can stand up and defend democracy.

Economy: Boycott businesses who support red.

DEI: Support businesses who defy the blackmail defunding. Use and promote DEI behavior on my own.

Hate/Divisiveness: Always be kind.
