Welcome back to the Monday Good News Roundup, that time of the week when our intrepid GNR Newsroom (Myself, Killer300, Bhu, and the fine folk at the GNR discord) Bring you the good news to start the week off right.

Its my birthday this week! That’s right. This Friday I will be 42 years young. Looking forward to it immensely, of course I am slightly wary because this is usually the time of year the Supreme Court does some tricky shit, so you know keeping an eye out for that.

But anyway, Normally I put the organizing spotlight at the end of the GNR, but this week its going up first, mainly because I got two pieces in particular I want to share.

x Good Trouble Lives On! July 17th volunteer and attend. www.mobilize.us/mobilize/eve... — Be United USA 🇺🇸 (@beunitedusa.bsky.social) 2025-06-20T23:27:53.789Z

This is our next big protest day, save the date.

And also this:

There’s a dark fog moving in, and it’s not just fascism in jackboots this time. It’s softer, slipperier. It speaks our language, wears our hashtags, and pretends to want what we want. But its real goal? To undermine, disorient, and disband. Welcome to the rise of The Black Pill Society—a flood of bots, bad actors, and black-pilled doomsayers who are about to turn your comment sections into battlefields. As Trump’s regime sharpens its claws and loses popular support, his inner circle will do what all faltering authoritarians do: weaponize narrative. That means not just attacking legacy media, but infiltrating alternative platforms like this one. Substack, until now a relative safe haven for dissidents and truth-tellers, will not be immune. So here’s your crash course in psychological operations, troll detection, and narrative defense—PR-style.

I saw this article and I knew I had to make it the front piece of this weeks GNR. Make sure to keep an eye on the comments sections and make sure that the people commenting aren’t just there to doom say or start crap.

So that’s out the way, time for music. Its One Wing Kong.

….Look sometimes the discord gets a little wild. Check us out sometime.

So, about 3 months ago I was a candidate in a special election in Florida, we raised a few bucks, knocked on a TON of doors (600,000+ + 4 million phone calls), and turned out an electorate where 80% of the independent voters in a rural red district voted for the Democrat. I’m not here to harp on the past, I want to tell you what I’ve learned knocking thousands of doors myself in rural Florida, so hopefully you can apply my experience.

Some good advice for future elections.

A new report from global energy think tank Ember says batteries have officially hit the price point that lets solar power deliver affordable electricity almost every hour of the year in the sunniest parts of the world. The study looked at hourly solar data from 12 cities and found that in sun-soaked places like Las Vegas, you could pair 6 gigawatts (GW) of solar panels with 17 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of batteries and get a steady 1 GW of power nearly 24/7. The cost? Just $104 per megawatt-hour (MWh) based on average global prices for solar and batteries in 2024. That’s a 22% drop in a year and cheaper than new coal ($118/MWh) and nuclear ($182/MWh) in many regions.

Solar power just gets better all the time.

NEW YORK -- A judge blocked New York City’s mayor from letting federal immigration authorities reopen an office at the city’s main jail, in part because of concerns the mayor invited them back in as part of a deal with the Trump administration to end his corruption case. New York Judge Mary Rosado’s decision Friday is a setback for Democratic Mayor Eric Adams, who issued an executive order permitting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other federal agencies to maintain office space at the Rikers Island jail complex. City lawmakers filed a lawsuit in April accusing Adams of entering into a “corrupt quid pro quo bargain” with the Trump administration in exchange for the U.S. Justice Department dropping criminal charges against him.

once again a judge slaps Trumps hand and tells him no. We should start a counter.

he first U.S. pope is a citizen of Peru, and the first U.S. bishop he appointed is a refugee from Vietnam. And next week, that bishop is urging his fellow priests to stand in solidarity with migrants by showing up to immigration court proceedings. There may be a pattern here. Pope Leo XIV appointed Rev. Michael Pham as bishop of San Diego, California, in May. On Wednesday, Pham, along with auxiliary bishops Revs. Ramon Bejarano and Felipe Pulido, sent a letter to faith leaders in the Diocese of San Diego suggesting they visit federal court buildings next week “to stand in solidarity” with immigrants making court appearances.

So its true: Holy men can indeed repel evil creatures with their presence.

Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough ruled that a Republican plan to shift food stamp costs to states violated chamber rules in June 2025.

More trouble for the Big Bullshit bill.

And speaking of…

x Republicans tried to stick a provision into the “big beautiful bill” to severely limit courts’ ability to stop Trump’s illegal actions. That provision has (unsurprisingly) been defeated in a Byrd bath. It will fall out of the bill. — Bobby Kogan (@bbkogan.bsky.social) 2025-06-22T04:04:26.026Z

To the surprise of no one the GOP’s attempt to use this bill to make Trump a king has failed miserably.

x Harry Enten: "I think we can say Donald Trump has lost the political battle when it comes to what has happened in Los Angeles. Trump's net approval rating on LA - way, way underwater at -15 points... this is happening on what should be on Donald Trump's best issue ... he's losing on his core issue" — Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-06-20T15:50:30.066Z

And it looks like Trump lost in LA as well.

Disney and NBCUniversal are the first Hollywood players to take a shot across the bow of a generative AI company that they claim has stolen their copyrighted characters. Disney and NBCU filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against Midjourney, a generative AI start-up, alleging copyright infringement. The companies alleged that Midjourney’s own website “displays hundreds, if not thousands, of images generated by its Image Service at the request of its subscribers that infringe Plaintiffs’ Copyrighted Works.”

Good, hopefully this will be the beginning of the end for all this AI nonsense.

Today is Juneteenth—a day of celebration for freedom and equality. As former President Barack Obama once put it: “On Juneteenth, we commemorate the anniversary of the delayed but welcome news of freedom reaching the enslaved Black folks in Galveston, Texas.” Obama continued: “It’s a reminder that even in the darkest hours, there is cause to hope—and a reason to keep building a country that lives up to its highest ideals.” A “Stop the Billionaire Giveaway” Bus Tour starts this weekend, organized by Fair Share America. It’s traveling across 14 states to rally folks against Trump’s evil budget bill.

You could cut Obama in half and he’d still be more man than 10 Trumps.

And on that note, here’s some more music: Love/Hate: Blackout in the red room

The Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday approved Gilead’s twice-yearly antiviral injection for preventing HIV — a milestone that the company and some experts say could help bring the world closer to ending the decadeslong epidemic caused by the virus.

Every day we get closer to eradicating disease as a concern. AIDS, Cancer, Diabetes, all of them are being solved one by one.

Four years after Gov. Greg Abbott announced Texas would be the first state to build its own border wall, lawmakers have quietly stopped funding the project, leaving only scattered segments covering a small fraction of the border. That decision, made in the waning hours of this year’s legislative session, leaves the future of the state wall unclear. Just 8% of the 805 miles the state identified for construction is complete, which has cost taxpayers more than $3 billion to date. The Texas Tribune reported last year that the wall is full of gaps that migrants and smugglers can easily walk around and mostly concentrated on sprawling ranches in rural areas, where illegal border crossings are less likely to occur.

Ha ha!

A lot of videos this week. Hope that’s okay.

As protests against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) efforts continue around the country, kids have begun creating their own protests online using the popular gaming site Roblox. Videos of such protests have been shared to TikTok, where players can be seen holding signs with anti-ICE slogans behind what appear to be police barricades as sirens flash and whir in the background.

The kids are alright.

Comedian and frequent Joe Rogan guest Dave Smith has apologized for supporting President Donald Trump, and is now calling for his impeachment. Smith, who hosts libertarian podcast Part of the Problem, said that he felt betrayed by Trump over his policy on Iran. "I supported him ... I apologize for doing so," he said during an appearance on the Breaking Points podcast. "He should be impeached and removed."

Progress is being made.

Happy Father’s Day to my fellow dads and father figures! If you’re looking for a daily news brief that cuts through Trump’s lies to deliver the truth, you’re in the right place. I’m glad you’re here. Let’s dive in. Trump held his authoritarian parade yesterday—and by the looks of it, he probably wishes it had been called off for thunderstorms. The crowd size was beyond pathetic, with a lot of empty bleachers, and a sparse crowd—even in front of the main stage. One protester could be heard yelling “Trump is a traitor!” Ain’t that the truth.

Just a reminder that Trumps Birthday party was a massive flop.

Anyway, that’s enough for this week: Pokemon time.

And now, the cute corner.

And that does it for this week, see you guys next time.
