The Stock Market is a friend to diversity [1]

When I hear our country can fall to Authoritarian rule, I believe it’s highly unlikely. One reason is most authoritarian countries economic system does not rely on the Stock Market like our country does. The Stock Market today is not just about money. It is also a social indicator of how people interact with each other thru trade. In other words, the Stock Market is a form of social program. A strong investment portfolio is one that is diverse in its stocks. Can you say diversity? When a US President is doing a lousy job socially to its people, or to our allies, it gets reflected in the Stock Market. Trumps tariffs on our allies is an attack on the diverse nature of the Market. Which in turn is an attack on your portfolio. For our country to become true blue Authoritarian, the Stock Market would have to be eliminated. That’s not going to happen. I don’t know if the Democrats realize how much the Stock Market favors their message of diversity and inclusion. Before the 1929 market crash, the richest people largely participated in stock investments. After the crash, the Stock Market became more diverse, allowing every day people to invest. Today’s Stock Market is even more diverse because investments in other countries has increased. The more players included in the market, the stronger it becomes. So a diverse portfolio does maximize your retirement fund, just as investing in social differences makes us more connected. We are social creatures. Recognizing our differences is important. When we work together despite our differences, we always achieve more than when we don’t. And the Stock Market is an excellent example of showing us when we are being inclusive and when we are not!
