Maybe the bombing was not a bad move [1]

US destroyed or damaged Iranian nuclear sites.

and is there much downside?

doesn’t seem like many civilian casualties resulted.

it is important to note that the Iranian regime is universally considered awful and reducing the nuclear threat is probably a good idea.

as for the threat of a massive regional war, I’m not sure. Many middle eastern countries are not friendly with Iran, so they don’t mind the bombing raid.

and Iran seems pretty ineffective militarily. The US and Israeli defense systems have worked pretty well. Iran has launched hundreds of missiles with little effect.

Maybe the houthis and Iran will conduct attacks in the strait of Hormuz. But really how much power do they have here? They’ve tried before, US reacted, and they largely stopped.

the headlines might read “us at war” but we didn’t have a great relationship even before this with Iran. Not sure things are going to get that much worse.

i think trump may have made a reasonable decision here.
