ICYMI, the guy in the White House (besides Trump) who may be a Russian agent [1]

There’s been some recent buzz that Trump’s director of personnel, Sergio Gor, has some serious security concerns. Dean Blundell has compiled a list of all the red flags around this guy, and there are a lot of them. Here’s how it starts.
Gor is Trump’s powerful Director of Presidential Personnel—he decides who gets to work in government. And yet, six months into Trump’s second term, Gor himself has not completed a background check. His SF-86 security form? Missing. His country of birth? Disputed. His email history? Linked to Russian domains and suspicious aliases. His past? A collection of political loyalty, vague credentials, and a deeply suspicious 2018 trip to Moscow.
He’s vetting 4,000+ government hires… but nobody vetted him. And now, Elon Musk, of all people, is blowing the whistle—publicly accusing Gor of lying about where he was born on federal forms, calling him a “snake,” and fanning allegations that Gor might be a Russian agent operating in plain sight.
Read The Whole Thing. There’s no shortage of things that would not pass muster in the before times. If Kash Patel wasn’t so concerned with using the FBI to go after Trump’s enemies and immigrants, you’d think he’d be all over this.
The Hill has more on just how important Gor is when it comes to screening people for loyalty to Trump, his solid MAGA credentials, and Musk’s feud with him.
…“Sergio is a vital member of the team and he has helped President Trump put together an Administration that is second to none,” White House communications director Steven Cheung said in a statement to The Hill. “As a long-time advisor, there is nobody more capable of ensuring the government is staffed with people who are aligned with the mission to make America great again and work towards implementing the president’s agenda.”
If Gor is a Russian agent, he has a number of things going for him. As Blundell lays out, he has a lot of high level connections throughout the Republican Party/MAGA world. He has Trump’s trust. The government agencies that might be expected to investigate him are all hopelessly politicized and compromised.
There’s so many scandals, crises, and chaos around the Trump regime, the media isn’t going to pursue it — especially after the way Trump and the GOP have pushed back against previous allegations about Russia.
Also, how long has Musk known about this? Musk has his own credibility issues. With his DOGE boys running loose, who knows what they might have found?
At this point in the Reign of Morons (as Charlie Pierce has labeled it), nothing is too absurd, outrageous, or just plain evil to rule out.
