Dang it! Found ANOTHER error. Sorry folks ...

Edited to add a link on PureOS, correct some small readability errors.

He’s at it again. Mad Donny McPoopy-Pants. Although, to be fair, it’s allegedly Erick and Don Jr who are heading this ‘venture’ up. To be launched this August, ‘Trump Mobile” network, is featuring a gold (surprised?) smartphone, the T-1, at an estimated basic price point of around $499. Selling points supposedly include the Trump name, that it’s alleged to be manufactured in the USA (more about that later), and that it seeks to position itself as another option to selecting service from traditional telecom providers.

“The gilded phone will come with a 6.8-inch screen, 16-megapixel selfie camera and 50-megapixel main camera. It also includes 12 gigabytes of RAM and 246 gigabytes of internal storage. ,,,” “The back of the phone [has an] American flag etched underneath a giant “T” and smaller “1.”” — quotes, the NY Post

OK, sounds pretty ‘blah’, what’re some details?

Monthly cell service @ $47.45 (for 45th and 47th President — get it?)

unlimited talk, text, data, with roadside service and telehealth (!) — the “47” Plan)

Not adding anything else from there because it’s getting cheesy. So, what about manufacturing locations?

The baby Trumps claim it’s going to be made in the ‘good ole USA’, but many many many others beg to differ (see links at bottom, for examples). Smart money is betting on manufacture in China, although Vietnam or India are also possible.

Here’s the low-down on ‘manufacturing in the USA’: what’s happening here is the splitting of hairs to confuse the issue. Phones that are designed in the USA are not made in the USA.

Let’s get real. It ain’t happening.

Again, quite a few cell phone manufacturers DESIGN their phones in the USA, including the Trumps. That said, they almost all manufacture them in China or elsewhere in Asia.

Only one — ONLY ONE — manufacturer makes a phone in the US, and, that USA-made phone is the only one of their portfolio. That company is Purism. Ever heard of them? Me either.

“… They are an American company and the manufacturers of the Librem 5 smartphone, which is not [of course] made in America. But it has a variant or two, called the ‘Librem 5 USA’ and the ‘Liberty (Librem 5 USA upgrade)’, and that ARE100% manufactured in the USA.” ref: Mobility Arena

The US-made Purism phones run PureOS, and are designed for privacy, giving the user a set of manual switches they can use to exert complete control of their device’s security, at all times. As of this writing, Purism does not appear to be involved with the Trumps.

Even Gavin Newsom says ‘Oh.’ (or so it’s alleged) — so I’m suspicious too.

“Caveat Emptor”, my dears (more reference links below).
