Just sitting here, drinking my coffee. Thinking about how bad things are now. I can’t go protesting because I am a nana to a young girl and a wife to a man older than me that need my care, 54 years married!

I must say it was very interesting to come to know the Puerto Rican community and how different they were from me, a Mexican American kid from San Antonio who’s dad worked at Kelly Air Force base only a few miles away. My neighborhood was relined. My schools were described in Kozol’s Savage Inequalities. My Spanish was very different to Puerto Rican Spanish!
