The best thing, and the worst thing, about Democrats and Progressives is that we are a HUGE tent. We have so many diverse kinds of folk, and so many diverse issues, that comparing our menu with MAGA feels like the Cheesecake Factory novella put up against In-N-Out.
I think this is what makes it hard to communicate our pro-active vision. You can’t just stick it on a bumper sticker. The only part of our vision that actually fits on a bumper sticker is RE-active: Y’know, like “REMEMBER: NAZIS = BAD” Too bad you actually have to SAY that these days…
We also have a huge disadvantage in that we don’t have our own dog whistles. MAGA can say “woke” or “Real America” and their base understands that to mean “I am a christo-fascist and you know all the stuff that goes with that.”
Whereas, OUR base expects our leaders to spell out everything they will do to support our various communities and issues. Just because a congresscritter supports Medicaid, doesn't necessarily mean that they support LGBTQ rights. Nobody’s willing to take that for granted. And I get why. Because so many groups have been left behind or abused in the past.
But things are different now. It’s do-or-die time.
I will go out on a limb here and say this: IF WE DON’T LEARN TO TRUST OUR CHOSEN LEADERS to take care of EVERYONE, we are NEVER going to win anything, ever again.
We just CAN’T torpedo our candidates for not being exactly in our camp on ANYTHING. Because when we do it, we are shooting ourselves — not in the foot — in the HEAD. We are killing America and Americans.
The progressive who campaigned against Kamala over Gaza, then they personally delivered Orange Idi Amin into the White House, and NOW look at what we have! War with Iran, and Shitler’s only plan is to turn Gaza into a row of his awful hotels and casinos. They took away Medicaid from millions. They put those innocent immigrants in that hellhole in El Salvador.
Was that you??? I sure hope not. Because you’re gonna hear from me when my Medicare is screwed, and my Social Security is cut.
Butter emails, right?
And, we have to understand that a good 50% of America is sexist and, homophobic, and xenophobic.
So, if we want their vote THIS TIME, we probably need to face the fact that our next candidate should be Remington Steele. A pretty white guy, who can be the face of our diversity, without being a member himself, who knows how to work the system and the cameras, AND CAN WIN.
This person needs to be a master of TikTok, fearless, and teflon. The guy who can go on Fox news and kick ass like Pete does.
Only not Pete. Because… well, YOU know why. It’s that 50% of America...
This also means we have to get the word out that this is Our Guy. That we’re literally whitewashing our candidate so we can get in there and do the work. We need to have our own underground dog whistle so our beautiful, diverse membership can all march in lock step to get it done.
The time for arguing is in the PRIMARY. Once that’s done, you’re either with us, or you might as well be MAGA.
AFTER WE WIN, we need to hold our guy accountable for his actions. We need to make SURE he does our bidding, for ALL of us.
I hate myself for saying that. But just LOOK at America.
WE COULD NOT ELECT THE MOST QUALIFIED WHITE LADY ON EARTH.
WE COULD NOT ELECT THE MOST QUALIFIED BLACK/ASIAN LADY ON EARTH.
WHAT ON EARTH MAKES YOU THINK WE CAN DO IT NOW?????????????????????
NOW, when they have control of our elections, and will stack the deck so much against us that we (like countless minorities before) have to do 200% better to even have a chance.
The truth is, we are about to lose our country. In fact, I think we only have one claw hanging onto the cliff before we go over.
AND THAT MEANS WE HAVE TO
SHUT.
THE.
F*CK.
UP.
AND.
WIN.
We have to have a great primary, and when we pick our candidate, we all have to get behind them and EFFING WIN.
WE. HAVE. TO. WIN.
The time to protest their stance on Medicare for All, or the Middle East, or Civil Rights, or anything else is AFTER. WE. WIN.
We are alone in the house, Jason is coming for us, and we have ONE arrow left in our quiver. Let’s point our Democratic arrow AT THE BADGUYS instead of ourselves.

Then, and only then, is it time for us all to speak up and make sure that the guy we put in the seat does the right things. All the things. But we can’t do SH*T if we DON’T WIN.
