Iowa Democrat launches third challenge to vulnerable GOP Rep. Miller-Meeks Iowa Democrat Christina Bohannan, who lost to Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks by 799 votes last year, is launching a third run for the battleground seat, hoping a more favorable political climate will push her to victory. “Mariannette Miller-Meeks has had three terms in Congress – three chances to do right by the people of Iowa. Instead, she has taken over $4 million from corporate special interests and done nothing but vote their way,’’ Bohannan said in a statement launching her campaign Tuesday. “And she has put partisan politics over Iowans again and again.” rollcall.com/...
Virginia Republicans are in disarray—just take it from them Virginia Democrats will choose their nominees for two important statewide offices on Tuesday, but it's Republicans who—despite settling on their ticket long ago—find themselves in disarray. "They've all got my cellphone, and I would love to see them," conservative radio host John Reid, who is the only Republican running for the open post of lieutenant governor, said of his ticketmates. "I hope that eventually we'll all be together and they'll embrace me, because I think we have a winning message.” www.the-downballot.com/...
Senator’s ‘We All Are Going to Die’ Gaffe Becomes Rallying Cry for Democrats There's "widespread" chatter among Republicans that GOP Sen. Joni Ernst won't seek reelection next year, the Wall Street Journal reports. The talk comes just a few weeks after the Iowa senator generated the wrong kind of attention when she responded to a constituent's warning that Americans would die as a result of the GOP's planned cuts to Medicaid by retorting, "Well, we all are going to die.” www.the-downballot.com/...
Kansas Democrat exploring run against U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall, accuses him of ‘flattering’ Trump TOPEKA — Fifth-generation Kansan Christy Davis announced Saturday she is exploring a run against incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall, who she said is spending his time flattering the “tyrant in the White House” instead of standing up for Kansans. Davis, a Democrat, made the announcement to the hundreds of people gathered for the No Kings rally at the state Capitol. She served as White House appointee for U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development during the Biden administration and previously lost in the Democratic primary in 2020 when she ran for the U.S. House in the 1st District against Kali Barnett. Republican Tracey Mann won that seat. kansasreflector.com/...
New Polling Finds Bennet with a Wide Lead in Colorado Dem Governor Primary A new poll from Global Strategy Group finds that Senator Michael Bennet holds a commanding lead over state Attorney General Phil Weiser in the Democratic primary race to be the state’s next governor. In a race between two well-regarded public servants, both are well-liked. However, Bennet is much better known (and, thus, has a higher favorability rating). He also converts name ID into votes better than Weiser. As a result, he more than doubles Weiser’s vote total and exceeds 50% on his way to a 31-point lead. www.michaelbennet.com/...
