Another Dem public official handcuffed and arrested [1]

Multiple news outlets are reporting about New York City comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander being arrested and accosted by masked federal agents at an immigration court in Lower Manhattan. Lander was there observing a number of immigration hearings and was arrested while escorting a migrant being targeted for arrest by ICE. When Lander asked to see a warrant, their response was to pin him to a wall and arrest him.

Lander’s arrest, which amNewYork observed, occurred as the comptroller and his staff walked arm-in-arm with an immigrant whom federal agents — representing ICE, the FBI, and the Treasury Department, each of whom was wearing masks to conceal their faces — moved to seize after a court hearing. Moments earlier, the immigrant had their case dismissed pending further appeal.

Trump obviously feels emboldened to put on a full fascist display of treating political opponents as domestic enemies deserving of police state harassment. Where does this end? So far both Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Zohran Mamdani have vigorously criticize arrests by masked federal agents immigration courts. More need to do the same. This is outrageous and truly unacceptable.
