A Course in Miracles, discussion [1]

This next week I will be considering the ideas from Lessons 169 — 175. (less than 200 lessons to go)

It is common knowledge on Dkos that Marianne Williamson is anti-vax. I have known Marianne Williamson for thirty years. I understand exactly what happened. She panicked and fell back on a snippet from a lecture she had given many times for many years. Yes it does say in A Course in Miracles that you are under no laws but Gods laws. However, Gary, you still have to pay the rent. ACIM talks about that too, but this is not a Cliff Notes version of ACIM.

Think of the freedom in the recognition that you are not bound by all the strange and twisted laws you have set up to save you. You really think that you would starve unless you have stacks of green paper strips and piles of metal discs. You really think a small round pellet or some fluid pushed into your veins through a sharpened needle will ward off disease and death. You really think you are alone unless another body is with you.

Yes another Democrat was kneecapped by Democrats. I never thought she should be President. But holy crap. I’ve known her for 30 years. And the vile things. I just can’t. I just can’t. We need a Saint Ronnie. Say no evil about a fellow Republican. Remember President Reagan making that stick. He was also the governor of California, an actor. Now the hatred for Newsom. I can’t. I just can’t. I just caaaaaannnnn’t.

That is why I talk about A Course in Miracles. and do a weekly column. I was so upset that my ideas were scorned and all these years I have sincerely tried to open my mind to many ideas on this blog. But when it was my turn. Everyone decided I was Jim Jones and trying to kill everyone. Or steal their money and buy private jets and a mansion. Or I was just plain retarded.

No one on this blog ever knew anything about my spiritual thoughts before Marianne Williamson aroused the collective ire and I have been here since 2004. Through the John Kerry disappointment and all the many disappointments. I feel comfortable here. I don’t want to look around for another place to be. But my spiritual thoughts I have kept to myself for all those years until they became a target of ignorant chatter. People with a snippet of a scroll were having tantrums about something that was too hard for them to know.

There are 365 lessons, a year of study, I am on Lesson 165 now. Every week I just talk about whatever comes up for me. There is also the expectation that a student would actually read the Text which is not light reading. I suggest anyone wanting to dabble start with The Manual for Teachers.

Sorry I am ranting here.

I enjoyed Williamson’s lectures way more than her books. I donated all my tapes to the Unity Church library. I don’t even know if people listen to them. Tapes. That was a long time ago. Anyway yes. I have known Marianne Williamson for probably 30 years. I found her to be sincere, funny and energetic. She was open about working the lessons and what she was thinking about. She mostly talked about relationships. I actually knew her best during the time of AIDS. She threw herself into helping that community. I always knew she was political. So it didn’t surprise me that she threw herself into that as well.

This week I came across the phrase ecstatic vision. Yes that is what ACIM is trying to tell us is true vision.

It is not, I have ecstatic vision and you don’t. It is not about my ecstatic vision is better than your ecstatic vision. It is not about the only way to get ecstatic vision is by Lesson 165 or any particular olden time etching.

Neil deGrasse Tyson and William Shatner were on TV’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Neil said something that I found profound. When you think about it, we’re on a spinning planet, alive in space said Neil deGrasse Tyson. We are held together by electromagnetic forces.

And gravity, William Shatner piped up, Which we don’t understand either.

All I am saying is ACIM never says you don’t have to pay the rent when you choose an apartment. ACIM does say choose once again.
