Tesla Divestment: Report from the CalPERS Meeting Today [1]

As our Tesla Takedown protests continue in Sacramento and far beyond, the movement has started to focus more on urging retirement funds to divest from Tesla. And 2 massive retirement funds, CalSTRS (California teachers) and CalPERS (CA public employees) have become the next front in the battle.
Today we spoke up at the CalPERS Board Meeting in Sacramento! The video is not available yet, so here’s my (hopefully) accurate memory of how it went down (you heard it here first!). Usually at meetings like this they hear public comments, then get us all out of there so they can conduct business. Strangely, they made us all wait through about 5 hours of business before letting us speak.
It was mind-numbing, I left the room several times just to stay awake. But it’s a beautiful building, with a sun-lit courtyard, right next to an impressive cafeteria.. so we survived ;)
Finally 6 of us spoke in favor of divestment from Tesla, plus 1 more who spoke by phone. Then 2 folks from the SEIU union spoke and asked for an investigation into an investment fund headed by some guy (sorry didn’t catch the name) who is part of all the DOGE crap. So every speaker was all pissed off about Elon and DOGE, in one way or another.
Anyway I know this is not a full report, but I wanted to get it out there. And also ask that you please sign the petition for CalSTRS and CalPERS to divest from Tesla!!
