Media’s changing landscape [1]

One of the good things happening in our media landscape today that has been interesting to observe, is seeing anchors that have been fired or let go from mainstream media, creating their own YouTube or other streaming media services, and it’s their transformation that is interesting to watch.

Those anchors that I use to yell at on my screen, to effing pick a lane, to stop flip-flopping seem to have found their footing and that tells me a lot (more) about how anchors are constrained when it comes to main stream media. Not only are their stances clearer, but their personalities are also punching through now that they don’t have to restrict themselves.

Now, this don’t mean I agree with them all the time but it does mean that there’s a renewal of trust. The only thing I’m worried about is that those new channels don’t have the reach yet of others, but they don’t really have investigative journalists, they still rely on MSM to get most of their news and comment on it. My hope is that they can hire some investigators in time or that investigative journalists form their own brand of free services.

We do have “citizen journalism” which is basically just regular folks who happen to film an event happening near them and that is also a good thing, but it doesn’t involve deeper journalism so while good for setting the stage it’s not perfect. And please citizens don’t try to do it, because there is danger involved in trying to dig into something you witness. Be safe!

Now this is happening both on the left, the right, the middle ect… every segment seems to have their own “independent” media streaming services. So views are still skewed, but a bit less so? For that reason I’m still mixing and exploring new channels (find your own lol, I don’t do recommendation for everyone has their own style they like).

What are your opinions on the changing media landscape?
