DoDRapidResponse (X) heard the news reports about how sparse the crowd was, and wanted to keep Trump happy, seeing as how crowd size is all important to him. Much more important than what is in the Constitution.
So, they posted a shot of people from the front, from the street, that shows people packed maybe 20 deep, maybe even in just that spot, and then it peters out. They felt the need to prove it was not AI generated. Doesn't need to be.
You can see the same white tent in the background as in the main story picture. Then they just lie and say it was "HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS," all in caps like it was a Trump post. Estimates are 100,000, the day after.
The crowd in the viewing stands started leaving early, even as the parade was going on.
Leaving the viewing stands early.
Here's a video post on Bluesky by The Bulwark that shows empty reviewing stands and comparing the crowd to the No Kings Day crowds.
Then DoD has the temerity to call out Senator Tammy Duckworth, a true war hero who lost both legs in combat.
"No need to continue to politicize this wonderful event." I had to laugh. What hell do they think Trump was doing? Changing plans so he could have tanks roll down Constitution Avenue instead of being static displays at the National Mall.
You couldn't get more politicized.
They were correct that it was not for "any 'tin-pot dictator wanna be.'" It was for"THE tin-pot dictator wanna be." Except he stopped being a wannabe. He is a full-fledged dictator. Funny how that "only on day one" is into it's 5th month.
Soon there will be a Donald Truth Social post claiming it to have been the biggest crowd ever. He's just a little bit busy today at the G7 and meeting with Sheinbaum, Zelenskyy, and Carney.
Trump will probably use AI generated pictures, or he can use ones sent to him that are carefully cropped.
Nobody's getting fooled. It was a lot smaller than predicted. And the rain went away. No excuses left.
