A Loud, Enthusiastic Crowd Showed Up in Torrance, CA, Saturday to Give MAGA Something to Think About [1]

On June 14, Donald Trump tried to turn a remembrance of the history of U.S. Army into a celebration of himself.

For perspective, remember that first term Trump visited France for the 100-year anniversary of the end of WWI, in which about 120,000 U.S. troops died. Trump was scheduled to visit a cemetery for U.S Marines. Because of a light rain -- which could partially dissolve the hairspray hair-sculpture on his head -- Trump declined to go. Chief of Staff, John Kelley went instead.

The crowds for Trump’s Saturday vanity parade were pathetically small. Those with him on the reviewing stand looked bored or irritated, and the waste of money was enormous.

On that day, millions of Americans exercised their Constitutional right to express grievances against their government, and to protest the loss of democratic freedom in the United States. The event in Torrance was noticeably larger than the "Hands Off" protest at the same venue on April 5.

An organizer from Indivisible reported that the Torrance crowd was estimated to be about 20,000 -- many more than were expected.

We brought a couple of signs poking fun at Stephen Miller, Elon Musk and Steve Bannon, and we exchanged light-hearted banter about the magnetic charm that these three men seem to have.
