What an actual Monarch's birthday parade looks like [1]

Here in the UK, every year in mid-June elements of the Household Division present the colours to the Monarch in honour of his/her birthday, with an immaculate drill on the Horse Guards Parade ground in the heart of London known as Trooping The Colour — this year it’s in its 375th year, a grand old tradition.

The setting and weather is gorgeous, the uniforms resplendent, the choreography immaculate and the atmosphere thoroughly decent, with everyone having a jolly nice day out.

It may appear a tad Ruritanian, but the whole thing is charming and unthreatening, with splendid visuals for all and not a single camouflage uniform, smoke-belching tank and intercontinental ballistic missile in sight.
