Surprise – Businessman President Shocked to Discover Deporting the Undocumented is Bad for Business [1]

A Guardian article today states ”Workplace raids will be stopped after Trump conceded that deportations are hurting agricultural and hospitality industries.”
All of a sudden, farm, hospitality, and meat processing workers are “very good, long time workers” according to a recent quote by the President on Truth Social.
In addition, the Guardian reports that certain fast-food franchises and sales of Coke beverages had decreased business due to Hispanic shoppers cutting back on purchases.
So, three of ICE’s easiest and most vulnerable target groups for deportation are now largely off limits to immigration raids.
This is indeed good and welcome news for some of these undocumented workers.
But it is very bad news for the President and the Right Wing who built their brand on disdain for illegals calling them criminals for just being in the US.
Without an enemy, the Republican party cannot survive as a major political party. That enemy must be presented as a consistent threat that is easily identifiable.
Once a significant portion of the former enemy becomes acceptable and “good” (or “very good, longtime workers”), the charade falls apart. The morale of the MAGA troops will begin to falter and dissipate.
The Commander-in-chief then has a hard time explaining to the troops why they are fighting and who the enemy is.
In other words, the whole “we are at war” with illegals claim falls apart.
Now most MAGA people are not known for their subtlety and thoughtfulness. But they know exactly which groups they dislike. They also know how to mimic and repeat the President’s accusations when it comes to directing their fear and anger towards illegals and immigrants.
But people who have been repeatedly told what groups are evil and are the source of their unhappiness need clarity.
That clarity is gone, gone, gone. Now only some illegals are criminals while others are “good workers.”
It is no surprise that for Republicans, when money and business collide with morality and ideology, money almost always wins. If it is bad for business, it is bad from the Republican party. If deporting illegals is bad for business, let them stay.
But the MAGA faithful never got the memo. This sea change in immigration policy is very likely to cause mass confusion among MAGA supporters.
I suspect Stephen Miller and the President will have migraines for the foreseeable future over how to explain this obvious betrayal to the MAGA faithful.
