From No Kings to One Clown

We once stood as a nation united under one radical idea: No kings. No thrones. No inherited power. We broke free from tyranny, carved out a messy but valiant democracy, and declared to the world that leadership would no longer be a birthright, but a responsibility. The Founding Fathers, flawed as they were, risked everything to reject the notion that any one man should rise above the law.

Fast forward to today, and somehow those MAGA-head Trump supporters managed to forget the script.

Donald Trump, a man who openly mocks the democratic process, threatens institutions, and operates with the grace of a wrecking ball in a glass house, continues to be hailed as a messiah by a bafflingly large group of Americans. He calls the press the enemy of the people, refers to judges as biased simply for ruling against him, and floats the idea of retribution like a dystopian bedtime story, and still, people cheer.

He is no king. He is no patriot. He is a tantrum in a suit, a man who treats power as a personal accessory and governance as performance art.

Yet despite the mountain of indictments, legal scrutiny, grotesque behavior, and blatant disrespect for the rule of law, his followers remain unwavering. No amount of facts, footage, or firsthand accounts seems to penetrate the forcefield of delusion. It’s as if pigs are flying above their heads, and they’re calling it a second coming. We can’t convince them otherwise, not because the truth isn’t clear, but because they’ve chosen spectacle over substance.

Supporting Donald Trump is an ideological surrender. It’s cosigning authoritarianism with a grin and a bumper sticker. It’s not about taxes or trade or jobs, it’s about blind loyalty to a man who sees democracy not as sacred, but as something to be gamed, then discarded.

We failed to convince the flying pig crowd i.e. those so deep in the fantasy that they believe corruption is strength, cruelty is leadership, and lies are strategy. But we haven’t lost the battle yet.

The demonstrations were a good attempt to begin to reclaim the founding truth: no man is above the law. No one is born to rule. And the moment we start worshiping a leader instead of holding him accountable, we become exactly what we claimed to have overthrown: subjects to a crown, except this time, the crown is fake, and the king is a con.
