Minnesota Tragedy: Anticipatory Grief vs Post-Mortem Grief [1]

Since (with regard to the political changes) I have been doing for myself so much work of anticipatory grief over the last few months—but maybe even over the last 10 years, I felt quite prepared for whatever was going to happen today on No Kings Day and the future beyond it.
Yet with the deaths by gun violence this morning in Minnesota, I still feel a shift within me of my emotional flow.
I’m glad I did the preparatory work, thinking about what might happen and how I might feel about those potential futures. But working with the grief, now that this day is here, is quite different and something for which I don’t think anyone can completely prepare.
I hope my sharing this helps a few others get started in getting their minds and souls around what has happened.
… and for myself … back to work!
Be well.
