Donald at the Kennedy Center for Les Miserables [1]

It was not the reception he was hoping for when Donald Trump went to the Kennedy Center on Wednesday to see a performance of Les Miserables. There was a mix of boos and cheers as he entered the viewing box. Those cheering did their best to drown out the boos but they failed (YouTube).
A dozen main characters and ensemble actors refused to perform. They were actually given the option ahead of the performance so understudies could fill the parts.
One patron shouted, "Viva Los Angeles!" as Trump left the box for intermission. Another person yelled "Fuck Trump!" to cheers before Trump returned. As the audience were taking their seats before the start of thd performance, a group of drag queens showed up to take their seats (on X) (embedded in the article), and the crowd applauded. Trump was also targeted with "Felon, you're a convicted felon!" and "Convicted felon! Rapist!"
Before the performance, Trump spoke to reporters.
Reporter: Mr. President. A question from Newsmax. Thank you so much.
Trump: I hope you got a good one. You got a good one. I bet she does.
Reporter: Mr. President, what would you say to Democrats who don't want you to come here because you're in charge?
Trump: Well, if they need it, we're going to be there. Absolutely, if we weren't there, if we didn't bring in the National Guard and the Marines, you would probably have a city that was burning to the ground just like it was a number of months ago with the housing.
Trump completely misunderstood the question and talked about what he wanted to talk about. No cognitive decline here, eh?
Reporter: Mr. President, what do you think of the actors who were thinking about boycotting tonight? [inaudible] of unrest. What are you prepared to do, sir?
Trump: About what?
Reporter: If this --- well, the protests have spread to key cities across the US -—
Trump: Well, I don't know. That's what you're saying. Do I believe you? I don't think so. I can tell you what we have --- what we have is a situation in Los Angeles that was caused by gross incompetence.
He never answers the question regarding the protest spreading to other cities. All he does is reiterate how he saved the city and protected the ICE agents. And then he goes right into his routine about the professional curb breakers.
Trump: And if you look at them cutting up and breaking up the sidewalk and getting it, that is a weapon, you see that with the curb, where they're breaking up the curb? Nice curb, and they break it up with a hammer because they couldn't get the bricks in. You know, they got caught with the bricks. We have them under arrest. They were bringing bricks in to throw at the police, to throw at the National Guard, throw it at people, and they couldn't get them in because we got them. After we got them they went and got a big hammer and started up breaking up the concrete sidewalk and curb handing it out to people to throw and drop on cars.
There was a widely distributed photo of a pallet of bricks put up on X which was geo-located to West New York, New Jersey. There were no pallets of bricks in Los Angeles, nobody handing them out, nobody getting arrested with them. Trump just getting stupid and believing propaganda. The photos are described as being catnip for right-wing agitators and grifters.
Reporter: It's been reported that some actors may be boycotting.
Trump: I couldn't care less, honestly. All I do is run the country well. The economic numbers, you saw them today. They're setting records. We took 88 billion dollars in tariffs in 2 months, far beyond what anyone expected. There's no inflation. People are wealthy. The country is getting back to strength again.
All I do is run the country well. That's either a sign of cognitive decline or living in an imaginary world. 88 billion dollars in tariffs collected doesn't mean much to the hundreds of billions of dollars that the United States has lost in so many different ways because of the tariffs. Could be trillions. People are wealthy. Nope, they're going out of business.
In response to a totally different question about trade deals:
Trump: Los Angeles, right now, if we didn't do what we did, we'd be burning to the ground and that's not over yet. These are radical left lunatics that you're dealing with and they're tough. They're smart. They're probably paid, many of them. As you know, they're professionals. When you see them chopping up concrete because the bricks got captured, they're chopping up concrete, and they're using that as a weapon, that's pretty bad.
Again, with the bricks. Bricks didn't get captured. They didn't exist. Still haven't seen a video of anybody breaking up the concrete with hammers. Much less people waiting in line for the pieces.
Reporter: Military parade is this weekend. [inaudible] are you excited?
Trump: The parade is going to be incredible. People will be in the parade like we haven't had in many, many decades here and it's a celebration of our country... we have the greatest weapons in the world and the greatest people in the world. It's going to be a big parade.
Sure, we haven't had parades in decades because they are completely unnecessary and a waste of money. The greatest weapons in the world. He really does want a Kim Jong-un type parade.
And then Trump headed into the center to take his seat, to be greeted with boos and expletives. I wonder if the drag queens waved to him.
There could have been a protest outside of the Kennedy Center to let Trump know what people think of him and what he's done to the Kennedy Center. But, it appears everybody was gearing up for Saturday and No Kings Day.
Trump's brain appears to be filled with bricks and concrete. Maybe that's why nothing intelligent gets into it or comes out of it.
