IAN: Thursday 6/12/2025 Moose Has His Ways [1]

['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']

Date: 2025-06-11

I interact with the furchildren way too much every day, all at regularly scheduled times. I have alarms set on my watch but they are not as accurate as Moose.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

He comes up to the table next to where I am sleeping every morning when he decides it is time to get this show on the road. I have a remote control for the overhead fan that I keep right next to me. He digs it out and throws it on the floor. No matter where I hide it, he gets it and I get up.

I feed them all first thing in the morning as my coffee perks. There is no reason for him to alert me about that. But, a couple of hours later, everyone get medicine and it comes in very tasty covers so they are anxious to get on with it. He shows up about 10 minutes early on the top of my computer desk and sits in his “I’m not looking at you” regal pose.

His white ruff looks like a fur collar

If I don’t get up and give him what he wants, he walks back and forth in front of the monitor, making it hard to continue. So I hand out meds.

The rest of the day requires him to take emery boards and pencils out of cups on the desk and drop them on the floor. By evening, he is chewing and clawing on the paper in the printer which makes the printer unhappy.

All of these distractions is pretty effective and a credit to his cognitive skills. He thought these out, rehearsed them and tuned them until I responded. He has trained me well.

Oh, come on in, take a seat...

Then he calls me in to give me my performance review. I need to improve my attitude and be more punctual. It figures.
