The Daily Bucket is a regular series from the Backyard Science group. Here we talk about Mother Nature in all her glory, especially the parts that live nearby. So let us know (as close as you are comfortable) where you are and what's going on around you. What's the weather like? Seen any interesting plants, bugs or critters? Are there birds at your feeders? Deer, foxes or snakies in your yard? Seen any cool rocks or geological features? Post your observations and notes here. And photos. We like photos. :)

The Botanical Gardens is another one of Pinellas County FL’s very nice system of public parks. It contains a number of gardens which display a varying collection of plants and trees from around the world. There is also a natural area where one can see native Florida wildlife.

Some photos of native plant and animal life from a visit.

Blanket Flower The Monk Parakeets have a big communal nest on the nearby tower. The city keeps tearing it down, and the birdies keep building it back up. Red-Eared Slider all covered with glop Subadult Moorhen Future Beautyberries Orchard Spider Tillandsia Air Plants Bald Cypress cones Brown Anole Sunshine Mimosa Fritillary Coontie I also heard a lot of Bullfrogs and Pig Frogs all around me, but I did not actually see any. And now it’s your turn: what’s up in your neck of the woods?
