Actions and Events in Central PA to Support Resisting Fascism [1]

Hi all,
It’s been awhile since I have been on here. I’ve been getting involved with a variety of groups and working to coordinate various actions here in Central PA. I also have an email list that I send tons of information out to folks. I’m going to copy and paste it here for your convenience.

As usual, more events and updates for your reading pleasure. With escalation in Los Angeles and other areas of protestors versus ICE, we need to continue our resistance. Get involved sooner rather than later, because it will take all of us.

LOCAL EVENTS TO SUPPORT:
Friday and Saturday, June 13th and 14th - Juneteenth Weekend (State College)
Starting at 6:00PM on June 13th, Juneteenth is kicked off by the Juneteenth Arts and Crafts Exhibition at the Woskob Family Gallery. On June 14th from 12:00-6:00PM, you can come to the block party on the 100 block of South Fraser Street. You can get more information HERE.
June 14th, 4:00-7:00PM - Juneteenth Jubilee (Altoona, Blair County)
Altoona is celebrating its 2nd Juneteenth Celebration at Heritage Plaza. This event kicks off their Juneteenth activities through the week. Basic information about the event is HERE.
LOCAL NON-PROFITS SUPPORT:
Sunday, June 22nd, 2:00-4:30PM: Centre Community Resource Fair
Central PA United is hosting a Centre Community Resource Fair to highlight the resources and services that many non-profits provide to Centre County. With the threat of cuts by the current administration, there is also a strong need to support these organizations. It is also a kid-friendly event with a bounce house and kids' activities.

ACTIONS (In Centre County unless noted otherwise):
Tuesday, June 10, 5:45-7:45PM: Open Mic For Democracy
This event is held right outside 3 Dots Downtown. Various groups and artists use this space to explain parts of democracy and the advocacy work they do. This is done monthly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday.
Saturday, June 14th, 12:00-3:00PM: NO KINGS PROTEST (Hollidaysburg, PA in Blair County)
Keystone Indivisible is partnering with Indivisible - Blair County to host a No Kings Protest in Hollidaysburg. The more rallies and protests in rural areas will highlight the frustration with current politics. There will also be a march. You can sign up HERE.
Saturday, June 14th, 9:30AM-12:00PM - No Kings Protest (Mifflintown, Juniata County)
Another No Kings event to protest wannabe kings. You can sign up HERE.
Saturday, June 14th, 11:00AM-1:00PM: No Kings, Just Ballots Protest (Lewistown, Mifflin County)
The Mifflin County Democrats and Juniata Democrats are teaming up to protest in Downtown Lewistown at the Square. There is no sign up.
Saturday, June 14th, 12:00-2:00PM: No Kings Protest (Lewisburg, Union County)
Yet another No Kings Protest. You can sign up HERE.
Saturday, June 14th, 1:00-2:00PM: No Kings Protest at the Allen St Gates (State College, Centre County)
A smaller event to join the No Kings Nationwide Movement. You can sign up HERE.
Saturday, June 14th, 2:00-4:00PM: No Kings Protest (Williamsport, Lycoming County)
Oh, yet another No Kings Event, you can sign up for it up HERE.
Every Tuesday, 12:00-1:00PM: Thompson Tuesdays!
On every Tuesday for every month, protest outside of Congressman Glenn Thompson's office and maybe get a glimpse of the "Coward from Howard"! Sign up HERE! You can also click on the graphic below.
Every Saturday, 10:00AM-12:00PM: Protest in Millheim
Join a local activist or two in protesting the current administration. Typically, standing on the sidewalks by the traffic light in town. This has occurred naturally and there is no sign up.
Every Saturday, Stand With Ukraine:
Every Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00pm at the Allen Street Gates (State College, PA), the Penn State Ukrainian Society will stand in solidarity with Ukraine and appreciate your support.
Every Sunday, 6:30-7:30PM: Rapid Response For Our Freedoms
This virtual event is to keep up with what is happening, various responses, and other updates. I have not done this one directly but have heard it is worth attending. You can sign up HERE.

This is an organizing effort led by comedian Cliff Cash. He has some solid efforts and leads to various actions in or around Washington D.C., of which you can check out at his site HERE.
