An overreaching Trump stumbles again by calling peaceful protests, 'migrant riots', making lawfare necessary after he ‘federalized’ the California National Guard without notifying the California Governor, who called Trump “a stone cold liar” by not mentioning the topic during a Friday evening phone call with Gavin Newsom.
Like his ‘sending water to fight wildfires’ Trump claims he will ‘set L.A. free’.
Trump has manufactured a growing crisis, or rather sown the impression of crisis, after ICE raids on Friday incited civil unrest. Subsequent protest demonstrations on the weekend escalated with clashes, property damage, and 56 arrests.
On Sunday in LA there was opportunistic violence on both sides, including the shooting of a news reporter with a rubber bullet (CNN). As the video shows, the officer was not under threat:
for context here’s a map of greater Los Angeles and the protest is roughly the red circle

I repeat — PEACEFULLY. pic.twitter.com/axVIzoL4UG — Lakota Man (@LakotaMan1) June 8, 2025 In an exclusive interview with NBC News' Jacob Soboroff, California Governor Gavin Newsom said that President Trump "has created the conditions" surrounding the Los Angeles protests. The governor went on to call Trump's decision to deploy the National Guard "a manufactured crisis," then addressed White House border czar Tom Homan's threats of arrest. "Tom, arrest me. Let's go," Newsom said. The governor also plans to sue the Trump administration over its deployment of the National Guard. x The California National Guard wasn’t even deployed in Los Angeles yet when this rant was posted.

Trump stumbles while attempting to board Air Force One in New Jersey en route to DC after rambling through questions from reporters
x Said Waymo on fire pic.twitter.com/PihGsZoVlI — Sergio Olmos (@MrOlmos) June 9, 2025 The Los Angeles Police Department obtained video footage from a Waymo driverless car as part of its investigation into a hit-and-run in which a separate, human-driven car hit a pedestrian. The LAPD published the footage, which has a note on it that reads “Waymo Confidential Commercial Information,” on its YouTube page to ask the public for help identifying the driver of the vehicle. The short clip shows what video footage that law enforcement requests from Waymo looks like. The situation shows that police in Los Angeles are now looking at Waymo robotaxis as potential sources of surveillance footage to investigate crimes that the vehicles’ cameras and sensors may have witnessed. In 2023, Bloomberg reported that police in both San Francisco and Maricopa County, Arizona, had issued search warrants for Waymo footage. Police have also requested footage from Teslas, extremely pervasive Ring cameras, and Cruise autonomous vehicles. www.404media.co/… Don’t forget: waymos and other robotaxis are surveillance devices on wheels that police are increasingly tapping for footage
Glendale, CA - The City of Glendale has made the decision to formally terminate its agreement with U.S. Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to house federal immigration detainees at the Glendale Police Department facility. www.glendaleca.gov/...
