Trump and Grassley go after FBI Special Agent Walter Giardina [1]

There isn't a picture of FBI Special Agent Walter Giardina available anywhere online. This is highly unusual, but maybe the FBI has a way of scrubbing information from the internet we don't know about. Whatever it is, it works. The only thing that can be found is this, and it's from Grassley's Senate page:

Grassley was going after FBI Agent Tim Thibault at the time and included the photo on the page, saying Giardina was given the award for going after Trump.

Grassley sent a five page letter (PDF) to Pam Bondi and Kash Patel, alleging claims about Giardina by a protected whistlerblower who contacted Grassley's office. Among the claims:

●SA Giardina was the initial recipient of the Steele Dossier and falsely said that they Dossier was corroborated as true.

●SA Giardina stated openly is animosity to President Trump and made known his personal motivation to investigate Trump.

●SA Giardina electronically wiped the laptop he was assigned while working for Special Counsel Mueller outside of established protocol for record preservation, raising the possibility that he destroyed government records. The destruction of the laptop was reported to the DOJ Office of Inspector General (OIG).

●SA Giardina instructed agents to use false Emoluments Clause predication on President Trump to "dig around."

●SA Giardina was a case agent assigned to the Crimson River case, later changed to Red Maasari. This case was leaked, by whom it is not known, to The Washington Post in August 2024 roughly 90 days before the presidential election in an attempt to falsely discredit President Trump.

Peter Navarro posted first on the 6th.

Then Donald Trump followed up today with his own linking to a The Federalist article.

The letter blames Giardina with a multitude of crimes that were part of him doing his job. There were real cases and Roger Stone did commit a crime, which Trump pardoned.

I can find nothing searching for Crimson Rivers, except fan fiction and a TV series, or on Red Maasari.

Peter Navarro is obviously happy about Grassley's letter. He's already giddy like the allegations have already been proved true.

Grassley should have kept quiet about the Steele Dossier. There is material in there that can be corroborated. And there's stuff that they probably won't want to be repeated, like that Trump is a Russian asset and the Russians have film of Trump with prostitutes in a hotel in Moscow or St. Petersburg. I forget which. There's dirt on Paul Manafort, which is true. Trump pardoned Manafort, but that was for bank and tax fraud. This about deep ties to Russia and his activities with Trump. It will be fun if the Dossier gets put back into the public dialogue and folks actually work to corroberate or disprove the memos.

Grassley says that, for example, "Andrew Weissman appears to have deleted all the data on his government phone more than once." Then it goes on to explain it happened because Andrew entered his password too many times, and the phone wipe was automatic. So, he didn't deliberately do it. Again, everything in Grassley's letter is second-hand. Can we trust Grassley to be telling the truth? The source makes it highly suspect. Whistleblowers are whistleblowers. Doesn't mean what they say is actually true.

The last pages in Grassley's letter make it crystal clear what they're after. Grassley is out to discredit the Mueller report. Again, this is not a smart thing to do. The Mueller report documents many illegal activities for which people went to jail. It documents 10 cases of obstruction of justice by Donald Trump himself.

I think this is going to be a case where Grassley is not only shooting himself in the foot, but he's also reloading the gun.

Trump should also not be so gleeful. Navarro should not be happy. They seem to think that they're innocent. But they're not.
