Sean Feucht turns down donor's request to open his books [1]

Last week, five former staffers with the ministries of Trumpvangelical worship leader and right-wing provocateur Sean Feucht—the guy behind the “Let Us Worship” concerts protesting COVID restrictions and most other matters on the right’s bucket list—accused their former boss of serious financial and ethical misconduct. They claim Feucht has a bad habit of using ministry resources for his own purposes. They also revealed that Feucht has been living high on the hog despite having no employment apart from his nonprofits. He owns at least ten properties worth “multiple millions of dollars” in California, Montana, and Pennsylvania, and his ministry owns “multi-million-dollar ‘parsonages’” in Washington and San Juan Capistrano.
However, Feucht’s responses have made it difficult to merely call the whistleblowers’ claims mere allegations. He’s even gone as far as to blame the report and coverage of it on the right’s favorite bogeyman, George Soros. Well, as I note at my Substack, earlier this week Feucht did something that leaves no doubt that his former staffers are telling the truth. When one of Feucht’s donors asked him to open his books, Feucht essentially blew her off.
When Tonia Hawkins, one of the donors to Feucht’s outreach organization, Light a Candle, heard about the report from Feucht’s former staffers, she was unnerved. She supports a child in India through Light a Candle, and the whistleblower report made her nervous about how her money was being spent. She replied to Feucht’s tirade about Soros on Facebook with a simple request—open his books. Rather than comply, Feucht simply offered her a chance to go to India. Hankins was so stunned by this response that she posted on Twitter about it.
x This is the tone deaf response I received from Sean Feucht tonight on Facebook, after asking a legitimate question about the current accusations against him. pic.twitter.com/GSxEUvOYYA — Tonia Hankins (@Tonia_Hankins7) June 4, 2025
It’s hard to blame her. Any honest ministry leader would have asked Hankins to provide her contact information so she could see the books and get peace of mind. Not Feucht.
When I saw this thread, it erased any doubt—Feucht’s former staffers are telling the truth. There is literally no good-faith reason for Feucht not to open his books. Indeed, the more I think about it, if Feucht is sued or criminally charged, this Facebook exchange will be exhibit A.
And the cherry on top? Looking at Hankins’ Twitter feed, on paper she’s someone who would be receptive to any claims that Soros won’t leave Feucht alone. From the looks of it, she’s hardcore MAGA. Her feed is full of retweets from MAGA luminaries, and her cover page touts Alex Jones. Before you harrumph, “FAFO!”—like I’ve seen many people do when Trump supporters realize Trump conned them—you have to consider that people like Hankins have spent the last decade in a bubble. They've been told that everything we say about Trump is just a lie, that we’re too blinded by TDS to see he really is making America great again. It takes a lot to break through that bubble—and when the scales fall off, people like her deserve support, not smugness.
More importantly, it takes the focus off the real bad guys, like Feucht. If this is any indication, Feucht is about to find out—and it won’t be pretty. The trickle of complaints about him are likely to become a flood, and I highly doubt his organization will exist in its present form within a year. It’s long overdue, considering that he and other fundies who refused to take COVID seriously are a big reason this virus is permanently with us.
