And some entertainment value in the news, even if it’s still not good.

National Guard being called out against protestors. Not happy. I hope the L.A. friends and family will be safe — several of them are immigrants, and while the ones I’m absolutely certain of have been citizens for years, this is not going to help them if they’re in the wrong place at the wrong time.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

We (my granddaughter and I — mostly the offspring) got my smoke alarm reinstalled on Tuesday. Wrestling the cover loose to put fresh batteries in did take both of us.

I got up Saturday to find my internet connection nonexistent. This was with two different Kindles, a Chromebook laptop and a Mac desktop all unable to connect, so I know the problem was on the other end. I asked Sara R to contact some of you because I thought I was going to have to wait for tomorrow to talk to a real person at CenturyLink since rebooting 6 or 7 times didn’t work. Then I tried one more time and everything seems to be fine.

I didn’t go to my niece’s graduation party. I believe the evening scheduling was to accommodate the kids who had to work (including, most likely, my niece); but I didn’t want to either drive the 150 or so miles home in the dark or stay overnight. The grandkids each had a prior commitment, so it was only my daughter.

Anybody else lose track of a year or two? I got a college graduation announcement from my oldest nephew’s girlfriend (though maybe they broke up — I don’t know). I had thought the pair of them were just winding up their junior year.

Love you guys!
