Taxation Without Representation; Just Sayin' [1]

Well, we definitely live under tyrannical rule. It’s been going on for a few decades, culminating into what we now have with the current Trump junta, supported by the oligarch class and the ultra-wealthy, who do not pay their fair share of taxes, which is piling on our national debt that the majority of us are paying for, no matter which side of the fence you live on.

We have a congress full of senators and representatives that are beholden to their moneyed benefactors thanks to Citizens United.

The Democratic party is in disarray, trying to sell a product that no longer represents the majority of regular folk who support them. They’re corporatists more interested in decorum, trying to pass themselves off as reasonable and sensible when the reality is that they’ve been compromising the values of the working class since the Reagan and Clinton years.

As for the Republican party, well, they’ve been on a strategic mission for decades, dividing the country over non-substantive issues like gender equality, abortion, immigration, education, etc., etc., pushing the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 agenda. The party is subversive and inhumane. The current junta is the tactical arm of that agenda.

Are you tired of paying for the wealthiest of the wealthy’s lust for power, reedy behavior, and opulent lifestyle? Because this is what it’s all come down to. Hey, were the makers and “they” are the takers.

If we had the courage to stand up to this willful subversion of our values and constitution (the rule of law) that protects us from tyranny, we should stop paying taxes en masse. I’m not talking about 10 million people here and there. I’m talking about the entire adult, taxpaying population in this country.

Think about it. They’ll threaten to garnish your wages, put a lien on you property, take your first-born child, render you to a foreign country, yatta, yatta. But if we don’t hold the line somewhere, the tyranny will never stop stripping us of what we hold dear. We’ll all end up destitute, living on a uninhabitable planet.

Yes, the idea is radical. But it beats an armed revolution where outcomes are unpredictable. And it sends a clear shot over the bow of the government that they have not been faithful to the people who elected them for a fair and just representation of our interest, and not simply bending the knee to the wealthy few. It would be a wakeup call, loud and clear.

Congress needs to start doing their jobs representing our interests. They need to pass legislation that forces the wealthy to pay their fair share to pay off the absurd debt that they’ve foisted on our backs. Hold them accountable. And provide tax amnesty for the rest of us.

What it has all boiled down to in this country, and much of the world, since the beginning of recorded history is this:

Rule Number 1: Follow the money.

Rule Number 2: Politicians follow power.

Rule Number 3: Money fuels corruption.
