My favorite chef and cookbook author is Pati Jinich, who was born and raised in Mexico City, eventually moved to Texas with her husband, and ended up in the Washington, DC area with her husband and son.
Her Pati’s Mexican Table and La Frontera cooking shows on PBS stations have been must-see tv for me for years because they’re such an enjoyable mix of cooking, history, culture, family, and friends on both sides of the border.
Pati's Mexican Table: The Secrets of Real Mexican Home Cooking, which features recipes for the traditional Mexican home cooking that she grew up with, is informative and full of fun stories and history, like all her cookbooks.
Here’s the trailer for her new series — Pati Jinich Explores Panamericana — which premiered on April 29th:

I love these easy recipes, among so many others:
x I love how guacamole has become synonymous with the Super Bowl. This Jalapeño and Chile de Árbol Guacamole is my latest take. It’s inspired by my travels near the Texas-Mexico border in Chihuahua, where I was finally swayed to add tomato to a guacamole. patijinich.com/jalapeno-and...

Because of her cooking shows, I bought a molcajete and a comal, both of which are used far more regularly than I would’ve predicted. For that guacamole recipe, I use just ½ jalapeño chile without seeds.
x There is always a jar of these Pickled Red Onions a la Yucateca in my refrigerator. They're a must for tortas, and great for giving a citrusy crunch to everything from quesadillas and tacos to grilled meats, eggs, rice, and more. patijinich.com/pickled-red-...

Pickled Red Onions always get used up within 2 weeks at most. Make these with Pati below!

I’m a lightweight when it comes to drinking margaritas, but this recipe is for Glen The Plumber!
x Tomorrow is #NationalMargaritaDay and this is the famous margarita at the Kentucky Bar, rumored to be the birthplace of the margarita and a Ciudad Juárez institution! More from Ciudad Juárez in the full episode, now on my YouTube channel: youtu.be/DAXuSVAN-1U
