As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
Greetings, friends, and welcome to another Saturday! Thank you, so very much for stopping by to check in on me. I am sure that most of you know by now, that last week was more than a little difficult, and I am so grateful for all your well wishes. Still fighting the tail end of a respiratory infection, but I am getting over it. The story I want to tell, is what happened before that. I have a very sweet PCA who comes twice a week to be certain that I get a shower and such, that all my needs are met. When she comes, I make sure to be in the bedroom and ready to shower. When she arrived last Friday, I was in my room, and shaking so hard that I couldn't sit up straight and she was not confident enough to let me stand and transfer. She took my vitals, and found nothing concerning, but the shaking bothered her of course, as it should. AS it turns out, I had dialed in a few extra units of insulin. That was enough to send my sugar crashing. The short story is. If you ever want to frighten a nurse, over due it with the insulin. And, as I learned later from the EMT later, insulin is also one of the easiest ways to kill someone, without getting caught. Which, as I told him, was something that I wish I did not know.
