Jasmine Crockett officially running to be House Oversight ranking member [1]

She said it a week ago that she wanted to be the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee after the untimely death of Rep. Gerry Connolly, who had the position. Now she's officially in the running.

"In this moment, Americans are demanding a more strategic, aggressive, and more energetic fight. Understanding that fierce urgency, I formally announce my candidacy for ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform --- with a focus on standing up for American families, defending the Constitution and the rule of law, and ensuring the government serves the people, not the privileged few."
It's hard not to quote the whole letter. It's all good. Even her background starting as a young girl and her working mom who went from postal worker to the Dept. of Defense, and a father who was a preacher.
"Former President Joe Biden lowered inflation and unemployment --- he steered us clear from a recession that most believed to be all but inevitable, and saved the world economy. Yet, Joe Biden was attacked for the price of eggs. It was Congressional Democrats, under the leadership of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who delivered COVID relief to the American people. Yet, it is Trump's signature on those checks that has been imprinted on the American memory. It is Democrats that have fought tooth and nail to protect SNAP, Medicaid, and Social Security for the working class --- yet we are labeled the ones who are 'out of touch elites.' This cannot be allowed to continue. House Democrats, especially when serving in the minority party, remain liberty's last line of defense. We have an obligation to fight, and a duty to win."
I had forgotten about Trump's trick of putting his signature on the Covid checks. It made people think that Trump was responsible, when he is the most irresponsible person in government there ever has been.
"From the pulpit of the Oversight Committee, the ranking member must lay out our case against Trump 2.0 and his accomplices, the Republicans in the House, and discharge this message across the nation."
She proves she's ready for the job every day.
She made her point hours ago about how serious about the job she is. Time for a bright star of the Democratic Party to take the lead.
