Good day, Peeps, and welcome to the club. First off:
A gentle reminder of how we do things: đ±đ¶đŠ Do not troll the diary. If you hate pootie diaries, leave now. No harm, no foul.
Please do share pics of your fur kids! If you have health/behavior issues with your pets, feel free to bring it to the community.
Pooties are cats; Woozles are dogs. Birds... are birds! Peeps are people.
Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. If youâre having âissuesâ with another Kossack, keep it âout there.â This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly. There are some pics we never post: snakes, creepy crawlies, any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals. These are considered âout of boundsâ and will not be tolerated. If we alert you to it, please remember that we do have phobic peeps who react strongly to them. If you keep posting banned pics...well then...the Tigress will have to take matters in hand. Or, paw.
Right now we are under an Air Quality Alert. There is so much wildfire smoke in the air that the local news is recommending that everyone who will be outside for any length of time wear an N95 respirator. A simple fabric mask wonât hack it. Most of the smoke is coming from all the way up in northern Canada. I think they have been saving human homes but it pains me to think of all the wildlife that canât escape. Damn this climate change.
At least I know the cause of all these hives Iâve been having. Itâs not a new allergy to peanuts, which is what I feared. I have something called mast cell activation syndrome. Mast cells are part of our immune system. In MCAS, your mast cells are sometimes triggered to release gobs of histamines into your system. What clued me in to the source was a post by a disabled Canadian over on Bluesky. She said that everyone she knew with MCAS in parts of Canada that are being clobbered by smoke are seeking treatment from their doctors. So itâs this damn smoke that is causing my itch. Fortunately, a couple of Benadryls are enough to control it. I havenât had to get into my prescription prednisone.
But enough of my troubles. How about some memes?
So whatâs happening with your critters?
