Trump's last public words - press Q&A May 30th at Joint Base Andrews [1]

It was a dark and stormy night, really. The day started with the Elon Musk farewell in the Oval Office, then Trump went to Mifflin, Pennsylvania to talk at the U.S. Steel Irvin Works plant, then back to the White House. It was raining hard at Joint Base Andrews, but Trump spoke to the press anyway.

Trump: That was a great trip to a fantastic place, the Commonwealth, Pennsylvania. The, um, steel workers are very happy. We did the tariffs, it's going to put them even, make them even more competitive.... we had a great day, and it's raining quite hard, but that's okay. How are you? Go ahead.

Reporter: Yes, sir. Can you make Pennsylvania the steel capital of the world again?

Trump: I think it's gonna happen. I think it's gonna happen.

Trump then goes over Nippon's $17 billion investment in U.S. Steel plants and how it's brick and mortar and how Nippon can't just pick it up and take it with them if they pull out some time later. I'm sort of sane-washing it here because he repeats it many times.

Reporter: Were you aware of Elon Musk's drug use?

Trump: No, I, I wasn't. I think he's fantastic. I think Elon's a fantastic guy. And uh…

Reporter: Are you troubled by these reports?

Trump: I ... I'm not troubled with anything by Elon.

Then he rambles on about Elon and the numbers. "They're gonna knock your socks off." And, of course, "He didn't need to do it." Never answers the question about Musk's drug use. Would he have had a different answer if Musk had said the Big Ugly Bill was an abomination then, instead of days later?

Reporter: Your steel deal final? Has it been finalized?

Trump: He's not easily replaced. He really isn't.

More about the U.S. Steel deal, how it isn't done and he has to sign off on it.

Reporter: Mr. President. Do you support the Lindsey Graham-Blumenthal bill that would levy sanctions on Russia?

Trump: I don't know. I have to see it. I'll take a look at it.

He better look at it. It slaps a 500% tariff on any country that buys Russian oil or natural gas. Watch out India and China. There is a lot of support in the Senate and the House for it. What about resuming arms shipments to Ukraine and resuming cyber attacks on Russia?

Reporter asks him again about the Nippon deal and if it helps in trade talks with Japan. "It certainly wouldn't hurt." But then he launches into something totally different topic without even a question or a transition.

Trump: I think that the deal I'm most proud of is the fact that we're dealing with India, we're dealing with Pakistan, and we were able to stop potentially a nuclear war through trade as opposed to bullets.

Um, nuclear war isn't waged with bullets.

Trump: You know, normally they do it through bullets. We do it through trade, so, um, I'm very proud of that.

Reporter: Sir, are you aware of reports that Susie Wiles phone has been breached and somebody's been impersonating her?

Trump: I've heard that, yeah.

Reporter: Are you concerned about that? Do you know anything about the -—

Trump: Well, she's, uh, she's an amazing woman. She can handle it, but I've heard that they, uh, they breached her phones or they tried to impersonate her. Nobody can impersonate Susie. Nobody.

Reporter: Mr. President -—

Trump: There's only, there's only one Susie.

According to reports, Wiles' phone was hacked and AI used in texts and calls in her contact list. That list, of course, includes top Republicans. Apparently this was her personal phone, not the government supplied one she also has. The voice sounded like her, so people spoke back until there were clues that it was fake with questions about Trump and bad grammer. The FBI is investigating. Impersonating Trump's chief of staff could have caused serious damage had it been done better.

A reporter asks Trump about Chinese students being afraid that their visas will be revoked. Instead of replying to that, Trump talks about the Harvard list and how there's going to be bad people on it.

Trump: We want people that can love our country and take care of our country and cherish our country, and for some reason Harvard doesn't want to give us a list. I would suggest you all get out of the rain now. Goodbye everybody. Have a good time. Thank you.

Reporter: Thank you, Mr. President.

Trump: Thank you. Who are you with?

The reporter's answer is inaudible and Trump walks away to the Beast.

Foreign students aren't required to love, take care of, or cherish our country. They're here to learn. Trump doesn't understand colleges and universities because he could have had somebody doing his homework at Wharton, just like Mary Trump said Trump paid someone to take the SAT scores for him. The man hasn't worked a day in his life, so homework would be an anathema to him.

Trump doesn't know about many things his administration has done or plans to do. But, he immediately knows when some trusted individual has criticized him. Like author Michael Wolff just yesterday. He knows every Fox News personality, not just the ones he hired.

He has absolutely no idea what is actually in the Big Ugly Bill. Musk has told him it's an abomination, but Trump can't possibly back down with all he's got invested in it.

Trump has been hiding out since May 30th. Playing golf and posting on Truth Social. Today, Trump is supposed to sign proclamations at 3pm ET. Last Wednesday, he was supposed to sign executive orders, and he said later that he had signed 81 documents, while saying the Autopen was running the government, not Biden. But no executive orders or proclamations ever showed up. Usually he has press in the Oval Office during signings. Not this time. No reports. Nada.

Today, his schedule says proclamations to sign, but closed to the press. What is going on here? This is not normal for Trump to pass up taking over the news cycle.

He played golf Saturday and Sunday. Had lunch with Vance on Monday. He did absolutely nothing on Tuesday. He gets his intelligence briefing at 2pm, then the signings at 3pm. Note that days go by without intelligence briefings because Trump can't deal with complicated matters and doesn't or can't read. That's why there is a game afoot to package the intelligence briefings into a Fox News format.

Five days out of view. This is not normal for Trump. His schedule for tomorrow doesn't come out till after midnight.

Until then, these were Trump's last public words. And then there are the deranged Truth Social posts. It's almost like the White House staff is hiding Trump from view, just like Biden's staff is being accused of now about Biden.
