I was born in the USA when the USA had a lot of respect in the world. I believe that the USA earned a great deal of respect before I was born. I also believe the USA has failed to do the things that it could have done to live up to that respect for most of my adult life. I believe the USA has squandered its respect, and now it’s time to face up.
Trump is the worst of America. Trump is a bully. America didn’t get great from bullying. America got great because it said, “We the people, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.” America has lost its way.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is kicking ass at the moment. Sometimes to secure the blessings of liberty, you have to fight off aggressors and smuggle in tiny houses filled with drones that will destroy the planes that can nuke you. And you’re careful not to target civilians when you do that. Ukraine didn’t tell Trump they were fixing to sabotage Russia’s air force. Ukraine just did it because, contrary to a lot of Americans’ opinions about our country’s influence, Ukraine decides what Ukraine does, not America.
Ukraine didn’t tell us that they were gonna do what they did. We have lost their respect. We’ve lost the world’s respect, and justifiably so. Our government acts like Mafia thugs, demanding respect, not because they have earned it, but because they are happy to literally physically torture anyone who doesn’t pretend to respect them in the precise way that makes them feel happy.
That’s sickening.
A friend recently told me that Trump is radioactive and everyone he touches gets nuked. I agree, and I think the USA needs to go through a major decontamination process.
Meanwhile Ukraine is a light in the darkness.
