Russian stuff blowing up: Ukraine strikes the Kerch Bridge [1]

Ukraine’s big week of hitting Russia where it hurts continues with a strike on the iconic Kerch Bridge connecting Crimea to the Russian mainland.
This time they attacked the underwater bridge supports. There is no assessment yet (that I have seen) of how much damage the explosion did to the bridge. The BBC says traffic is still going across the bridge.
x 🌉/1. Ukraine’s Security Service Hits Crimean Bridge in Underwater Sabotage Operation The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has carried out a new special operation targeting the Crimean Bridge—its third successful strike on the structure, this time using underwater explosives.

/2. The operation, which had been in planning for several months, involved placing explosives on the underwater supports of the bridge. At 4:44 a.m., the first device was detonated. The blast caused significant structural damage to the base of the bridge, using the equivalent of 1,100 kg of TNT.
x Here’s what the Crimean Bridge looks like “in section,” showing the damaged supports (highlighted in red in the image). According to the Security Service of Ukraine, around 1,100 kg of explosives (TNT equivalent) were used in the operation near the base of the structure.

So, how did Ukraine sneak up to the bridge to plant this huge bomb?
Hacking into the Russians’ bridge webcams might explain it.
x It's likely that the entire video surveillance system of this strategic facility was compromised, and it is unknown how long this had been going on – writes Military Informant. ◾️ Explosions in the protected area.

Of course, the memes have already started.
It must be National Fuck With Russian Bridges Day in Ukraine. This bridge connects Crimea to mainland Ukraine. It was hit by Storm Shadow missiles in August 2023 but reopened after only a week.
x 🔥 A major fire is observed near the Chongar Bridge, — Crimean Wind The fire is raging near the railway on the Chongar Peninsula, not far from the bridge, near the village of Ataman.

Zelenskyy is in Washington. I hope he brought a deck of cards with him.
x 🇺🇦🇺🇸 A Ukrainian delegation, led by First Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, has arrived in Washington. According to Presidential Office Head Andriy Yermak, key topics on the agenda include defense support, strengthening sanctions against Russia, and the return of deported Ukrainian children.

There are reports that Operation Spiderweb destroyed not one, but TWO A-50 AWACS-type radar planes. I can only find the reports on Twitter, so here is a link if you want to venture over there.
The report indicates Russia had six such planes and is now down to four.
Looks like this A-50 could use some new wings and maybe a fuselage.
x 💥 Russia: At least one $350 million A-50 AWACS aircraft appears to be destroyed at Severnyy Air Base in Ivanovo based on satellite imagery.

Remember those nets that cover roads to protect vehicles from drones?
Doesn’t help if you leave gaps in them. I’ll bet those Russians in the Scooby van were shocked as hell.

Russia did what Russia does best — attacked civilians.

The timing of Operation Spiderweb was superb.
x 🧵🚨Russia planned operation Zeus' Lightning, largest-ever cruise missile attack on all of Ukraine for the night of June 1 to try to force Ukraine's hand at Istanbul the next day.
However, the Ukrainian drones destroyed many of these very bombers, already fueled, hours before they were to take-off.

I think this can be filed under the heading — Stuff You Posted That You Wish You Hadn’t.
Yep, they’re going to show the world that you can’t fuck with Russia. 😂😂😂
x Ukraine's operation was not just brilliantly executed but perfectly timed.
Russian blogger “Russian Arms” said the following just yesterday! “❗️⚡️Over the past two weeks, the Russian Armed Forces have redeployed about 40 Tu-22M3 long-range bombers to the Olenya airfield, …

“… as well as about 20% of all Tu-95MS aircraft in the country. This is the largest redeployment of strategic aviation since the beginning of the conflict.⠀This redeployment may indicate that the Russian Aerospace Forces are preparing for a large-scale operation… “In the event of another breakdown in peace talks, Moscow no longer intends to prolong military action for years. According to an insider, the Kremlin has decided to end the active phase as harshly and quickly as possible, using all available means - except nuclear ones. “The Olenya airfield, as one of the most protected and remote, was chosen for the concentration of strategic aviation forces and ammunition. [!!] “Vladimir Putin, according to sources, expects to demonstrate to the West what a war will look like if Russia ‘stops holding back.’ This is also a signal to European ‘hawks,’ especially against the backdrop of discussions on the supply of new weapons to Ukraine. “Military experts expect a previously unprecedented attack on the logistics hubs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces if Zelensky tries to disrupt negotiations or escalate the situation.
Drunk Dmitri went on a rant that was unhinged even for him.
So much for “peace” talks.
x Dmitry Medvedev — longtime war cheerleader, ex-Russian president, and Putin puppet — goes on another vodka-fueled rant: “Revenge is inevitable. Everything that must explode will explode. Everyone who must be annihilated will vanish. Talks? Just a step toward wiping out the neo-Nazi regime.”

Another Russian factory goes up in flames.
What are the chances that a truck loaded with fuel just happened to explode after it entered a factory that produces engines for the military?
x 🚨 Explosion and large fire reported at Zavolzhsky Motor Plant in Nizhny Novgorod region. A fuel truck reportedly exploded on site, spreading flames to a production facility. One worker injured with serious burns.

Another 1,100 Russians who rolled snake eyes. Plus 7 tanks and 41 aircraft. Gosh, I wonder how all those planes were destroyed.
The evolution of drone warfare continues.
x Russian TG channels are posting the following images of a drone-interceptor test armed with double-barrel minimal recoil 12-gauge hunting rifles: "Currently their delivery to combat units is on. The weight of the system with two barrels is 1.7 kg, and with three - 2.5 kg." t.me/binary_glass...

x Russian fascists commit another war crime in Ukraine: FPV drone pilot loitered around a residential high rise in Nikopol for over 30 seconds before flying full speed into an apartment directly below a large Ukrainian flag.

We occasionally have debates here about whether Ukraine can use this advanced system or that one because it needs to be launched from an air platform or from the sea. Meanwhile, Ukraine develops its own platform — 18 Wheels of Fuck You Putin — that blew up more Russian shit than a fountain of untreated sewage.
x 🇺🇦👀 It’s Not a Tiny House—It’s Ukrainian FPV Drone Launcher, - Clash Report The containers look like tiny homes—solar panels on top, an empty interior, nothing suspicious. Who gives a shit if Russia is angry?
x 🇺🇦❗️"Nobody is interested in Russia's anger. Russia must go to the end of the war. We, the whole world, must at least try to stop it," — Zelensky answering the question whether Russia is angry because of yesterday's SBU operation "Web".

“We got fucked today. We’re fucking losers.”
I can’t argue with that.
x A Russian recorded an appeal to Putin after yesterday's events at Russian airbases: "Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin], it's f*cking hell! Our f*cking strategy is f*cked up!Tu-95s,Tu-22M3s.We don't need any negotiations. They f*cked us in Irkutsk. They showed their strength, strategy, that they work⤵️

And if the Russians don’t stop acting like a middle school class harassing a substitute teacher, Assistant Principal Zelenskyy is going to break out the paddle and let the beatings commence.
x 🇺🇦🗣️"I was told that the Russian delegation behaved a little calmer. But arrogance - well, what is it? We'll see. Maybe a few more measures need to be taken before they start behaving like decent people," — Zelensky

There is a lot of political pressure on the Central Bank to lower interest rates.
x If I were to speculate, I would think that the Central Bank wants to stay at 21%. And wait until to July to make a move. HOWEVER, even if the Central Bank wants to do that, they may still be told to lower it, perhaps for optics. If the key rate is lowered, that isn’t good news. — Prune60 (@prune602.bsky.social) June 2, 2025 at 3:39 PM
Raise it, lower it, stay the same, it’s all going to be bad news, this just determines what flavor of bad news it is. Speculation can get especially wild now as the Central Bank won’t be able to respond. Therefore, be cautious about statements made related to the key rate during this time period.
When there aren’t enough potatoes to go around, what do you do?
Try gaslighting — Potato shortage? What potato shortage? Or tell people that potatoes are really bad for their health.
Norway steps up.
x Over the weekend it became clear Ukraine's govt was preparing citizens for gas shortages after repeated Russia hits. Today Norway stepped in to guarantee help.
Zelenskyy said Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Støre promised to cover any deficit this winter, which could amount to €1bn

This is a hopeful sign.
Helping children cope with constant air raid warnings.
“Skoro Peremoha” is a children’s song about air raid alerts. It is played for young children in kindergartens and primary schools when there is a risk of an air attack from russia. The song was written to help kids stay calm and feel safe while they make their way to the shelter.
The show must go on.
x Living in Odesa, Ukraine, now be like: one moment you play the piano on live stream, next Russia attacks your city with missiles, you shake up from the explosions, then you continue playing the piano on live stream
