No Kings Day coming up Saturday June 14 - be there! [1]

I’m a bit worried today. Things seem to be getting better; some backbone by the Supremes, a few corporations quitting quisling law firms like Skadden, Arps and Paul, Weiss, more pro-law court decisions. Yet, we are all feeling the five-month slump that Masha Gessen in the NYT says is the most dangerous period of all. We are torn between “don’t pay attention to the sideshow” (We are taking back Alcatraz!) and the egregious anti-privacy attacks by DOGE and the renditioning of even American citizens.
I’m daily confused what to be outraged by and what is even something they are doing for real. And then we’re buffetted by court decisions and tariff reversals that make us wonder how much can stick.
Are we getting more complacent? Well, a good test will be the No Kings rally on June 14. So far, at least from where I sit in San Francisco, publicity around these marches has been pretty scarce. I attended my last one about four weeks ago, but I must not be on the right mailing lists since I haven’t heard about much since.
I’ve got Saturday June 14 No Kings Day blocked off. I’m trying to get my family to go, but that’s not their idea of a good time on a Saturday so I may be marching alone with new friends I meet along the way.
Now about you? I want to hear if you’re going. What are you hearing about the vibe out there? Are we ready to demand change before we’re just nostalgic for a free America that no longer exists?
Let’s make this the biggest protest so far. We can’t afford for it to be a dud.
