What I am starting to think is that ACIM is trying to alter the lizard brain — Limbic system. Like the Buddhist said standing in your own shadow.
The unforgiving mind is torn with doubt, confused about itself and all it sees; afraid and angry, weak and blustering, afraid to go ahead, afraid to stay, afraid to waken or to go to sleep, afraid of every sound, yet more afraid of stillness; terrified of darkness, yet more terrified at the approach of light. What can the unforgiving mind perceive but its damnation? What can it behold except the proof that all its sins are real?
My friend was driving across the Aurora Bridge in the winter and went into a skid. She took her feet off the pedals and her hands off the steering wheel and waited. When the car stopped spinning around some men came up to her car and complimented her driving.
I talked about a group I went to before. The leader of the group invited us to a discussion he ran for bank tellers. At that time there were quite a few bank robberies. In fact the reason I went to direct deposit was a bank robbery. At any rate his discussion was about fear. And how if the bank teller could forget the fear when a gun was pointed in her face she could remain in control. The bank robber was in fear and if they both were in fear they would be a lot closer to a bad outcome.
Silence is the pulpit.
