We Have No King in the United States [1]

Robert Baratheon, a very overweight man, became king after leading a rebellion against the current ruler, Aerys II Targaryen. He didn’t like any Targaryens and forced them out of Westros. He constantly cheated on his trophy wife, Cersei Lannister, producing many illegitimate children. Under Robert’s reign, the realm was bankrupted. He wasn’t a particularly good king, probably because he wasn’t a good man. He was killed during a hunting accident.

Donald J. Trump wants to be a king. Surely, he knows that the United States is not ruled by a king. There are countries with kings and queens, England being one of them. The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros also had many kings and queens. Let’s compare the rulers of the Game of Thrones to Donald J. Trump.

Cersei Lannister was married to King Robert Baratheon, making her a queen. She was narcissist who cheated on her husband, Robert. She had a decades long sexual relationship with her twin brother, Jamie. Not only that, but she also had a sexual relationship with her much younger cousin, Lancel Lannister. Cersai is a power-hungry woman and stomps on anyone getting in her way. She dearly loved her three children, who were actually her twin brother’s children. She feared that Ned Stark was about to tell Robert that the children were not his, so she arranged for the Ned’s execution.

Joffrey Baratheon became king after his father, Robert died from getting bored by a wild boar, so Cersei claims. Joffrey was a cruel person. He had a very short temper and thought that, as king, he could do anything he wanted. He abused his power in so many ways. He didn’t care to listen to anyone trying to reason with him. As cruel as he was, he was also weak and a coward. He sought revenge on those who betrayed him. He was poisoned at his wedding reception and died.

Margaery Tyrell was a kind but very sly lady. She would often play with little children and gave them toys. Margaery strongly wanted to be THE queen, first wooing Joffrey and then his much younger brother. There is something not right with that.

Tommen Baratheon became king after his older brother, Joffrey, died by poisoning. Tommen really was a kind man, actually just a boy, who did listen to people and tried to be good. Unfortunately, he was the product of incest. His Uncle Jamie was actually his father. Mixing family genes can cause issues to a person’s mental ability. Unlike Trump, he probably didn’t have a very good brain. He might have been a wonderful king, but he took his own life.

Daenerys Targaryen was a beautiful woman which helped her get what she wanted. Her father, Aerys II Targaryen was overthrown by Robert Baratheon during Robert’s Rebellion. In her mind, she was the rightful queen of Westeros. She fell in love with Jon Snow, who later found out that he was really a Targaryen and the next in line to the Throne. Daenerys, once a kind person became relentless in her quest to be the ruler. She destroyed those who got in her way. She put fear into anyone who went against her. She was assassinated by Jon Snow but only after she destroyed King’s Landing, killing thousands of people.

Jon Snow never wanted to be king, but he was crowned King of the North. He surely didn’t want to be the King of The Seven Kingdoms. He was a kind person, helping people, and fought many wars. He didn’t have bone spurs, but he was once stabbed in the heart. He got better. He would have been a good king. He killed Daenerys to keep the world a better place. Unlike Trump who claimed he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and get away with it, he was punished and sent back to The Wall to serve with the Night’s Watch.

Robb Stark was the eldest of the Stark sons. He was named King of the North before Jon Snow. Rob would have made a good king, but he made a big mistake by breaking his word. He was to wed one of Walter Frey’s daughters but fell in love with another woman, whom he later married. He was murdered at Walter Frey’s command, along with his mother and bride. Kings shouldn’t break their word.

The Night King was an evil former man. He was the leader of the White Walkers. He wanted control over everything north and south of The Wall and didn’t care who he harmed. His reign was ended by Arya Stark, the younger sister of Sansa Stark. He would never have been a good king.

Bran Stark became the ruler of Westeros after the defeat of the Night King and his army of the dead. He could be a good king, but he lacks emotion and sure doesn’t have much of a personality.

Sansa Stark began her life as a sweet innocent girl. She endured so much horror and pain in her life. She grew strong because of her experiences. She was later named Queen of the North. She was a good queen. Women can be good leaders.

Then there is Lyanna Mormont. She wasn’t a queen, but she was the head of House Mormont. She listened to her counsels. She was a reasonable person. She was brave and fought against the White Walkers and the army of the dead during the Long Night, unlike someone else who stood in the Capitol during the Inserection. She was killed during the battle, but she did manage to stab a giant wight in the eye before succumbing to her wounds. Oh, and she was only 10 years old.

When you play the Game of Thrones, be a Lyanna Mormont.
