Everyone has something to blame for what in the 2024 election. I have mine…
Until Barack Obama a white racist in this country could vote for either candidate (for the most part) and they would be fine.
There’s no way to get data on this (who’s going to answer the phone and say - “yes, I voted for Trump because he’s not a Black woman”? Or a white woman in Clinton’s case.
I think that number of people is in the millions - only data point I have is Harris getting +/- 15 million less votes than Biden did. Does anyone disagree there aren’t 15 million people in this country who wouldn’t vote for a Black woman and find reasons to justify it? Just imagine everything you’ve ever heard from maga that just doesn’t make sense. It’s not brainwashing - it’s justification and refusing to be wrong even though they know they are. If they could just say they wouldn’t vote for a Black woman they would. They have to pretend….”all lives matter”, parading Black people around that are on their side, etc etc.
Soo - here’s the problem. There’s a 50/50 chance another Republican wins in 2028. Why? Because Trump voters don’t really care about the economy, or immigration, or civil rights especially.
The problem then becomes - if my theory is true what do we do about it?
Nominate white men? Nominate Black men? Go all in on civil rights issues and highlight their racism? Do the opposite and get the progress we want when elected to government?
We’re in a catch-22 with fighting for what is right and just for ALL Americans.
We have to win in order to do that and day by day it’s becoming increasingly clear that what we are doing is not an effective electoral strategy thanks to our fellow Americans ummm beliefs.
This post isn’t about what’s right and wrong. We all, here at least, know that. This is more of an electoral strategy/campaign/communication discussion!
