Trump Killed Their Jobs and the World Lost the Data That Could Have Saved It
It wasn’t just foreign aid Trump destroyed. It was trust. It was science. It was careers, classrooms, and the kind of knowledge that saves lives.
At the University of Pennsylvania, researchers working under USAID contracts were collecting real-time data to help inform U.S. foreign policy. They weren’t wasting money. They were pioneering tools that could predict political instability, help warn travelers of emerging risks, and evaluate the success of maternal health projects across Africa.
Then Trump gutted USAID. Now those researchers are out of work. Their students are left in limbo. Entire projects, years in the making, have been scrapped at the edge of completion. And the data systems, designed to serve policymakers in real time, are frozen in the past.
This isn’t just a tragic waste of money. It’s a self-inflicted wound. U.S. foreign policy now lacks some of its best tools for understanding a dangerous world. We had a multilingual machine learning system tracking media trends in over 60 countries. Now? The lights are off. The funding is gone.
This collapse didn’t just hurt Penn. It sent a message to the world’s development sector: America cannot be trusted. Contracts were canceled. Local partners in places like Zambia were left hanging. Projects to fight poaching, improve maternal health, and protect rural communities ended overnight, with nothing to show but broken promises.
Trump’s destruction of USAID isn’t just ideological. It’s operational sabotage. And the damage doesn’t stop at our borders. We may never know what these researchers could have uncovered, because the work was silenced before it could speak.
We are Fighting Back . You Can Too.
The Alliance for American Leadership is tracking the impact of aid cuts, rallying support to restore funding, meeting with members of Congress, and reminding Americans of the real meaning of American leadership: decency, duty, and hope.
In just our first two months, we've recruited over 400 volunteers from 41 states, including 23 senior campaign strategists and the former Briefing Manager for the Kamala Harris Presidential Campaign.
And we’re only getting started.
We are on track to mobilize 5,000 volunteers by the 2026 midterm elections to fight for American leadership. We will resist fascism, restore USAID, and rebuild America’s role as a force for good in the world. This is our moment to lead with integrity and purpose, showing the world. What true American values are all about.
But behind every meeting, every voice, and every victory is the operational engine that makes it all possible — and right now, we need your help to keep it running.
We must raise $20,000 to sustain the operational infrastructure that powers this movement. That means funding our digital outreach and empowering the young, diverse, and working-class leaders who are too often left out of the fight. Your support keeps the lights on, the teams moving, and the pressure on Congress at full force.
