Located just outside the charming town of Bigfork, Montana, Wayfarers State Park provides public access for launching your boat and swimming in the refreshing water of Flathead Lake. Flathead Lake is the largest natural body of freshwater (by surface area) in the western U.S. and is also one of the cleanest lakes in the world. The lake is a remnant of the ancient, massive glacial dammed lake, Lake Missoula, of the era of the last interglacial. It is over 27 miles long and 16 miles wide.

Wayfarers State Park is 67 acres in size and is 2,923 feet in elevation. A mature mixed forest makes this site very pleasant for camping and picnicking. The park has a boat launch and a dock. Shown below are some photographs of the beach area. Note: These photographs were taken on May 2, 2025, and the lake does not reach full pool until July.
