Senator Rand Paul: Medicaid Cuts "WIMPY." Republicans Can Provide Something Better Than Medicaid! [1]

It’s really not news that Senator Rand Paul is unhappy with the budget cuts to Medicaid in the MAGA Murder Bill (Big, Beautiful Piece of Crap) passed by the House. Paul wants even deeper cuts, and Paul says the cuts are “Wimpy” and “Anemic.” And he is kind enough to go on the record AGAIN to state that Medicare and Social Security also need spending cuts. What caught my eye this time though is that Paul is now imitating his political rival Donald Trump. Not only will eliminating Medicaid be a good thing, but Republicans will PROVIDE SOMETHING BETTER than Medicaid!
Translation: I’m going to lie my ass off just like Trump did with trying to overturn the ACA.
This is what Rand told a crowd in Iowa:
The Republican governor has already submitted a request to the federal government for permission to institute work requirements for about 171,000 people enrolled in the Iowa Health and Wellness Plan, the state's Medicaid expansion program. And U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins approved Reynolds' waiver request to limit Iowans' use of SNAP dollars to buy foods that are exempt from sales tax in Iowa. "We need people in your state Legislature who're brave enough to take it on and just say we can do it," Paul said. "And I think then you have to explain it to people. If everybody in Iowa were told the state Legislature were cutting people on Medicaid, you may lose, so what you have to do is you're going to tell them, 'We'll get you something better.'"

This was after Rand told the Iowa audience that states like Iowa should pony up more of their share of the costs for Mediciad as one way to save money for the federal governemnt. He knows full well that if that was one of the measures that comes of out the MAGA Murder Bill reconcilation that many states won’t come up with the money, especially red states. I’m sure those states will just kick people off of Medicaid to cut down on any increased costs.
But besides all that, don’t you just love the Trumpian flourish of “We’ll get you something better.”? The alternative to a dismantled Medicaid is called THE NOTHING. It’s the program that existed before Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security were created. THE NOTHING led to high rates of poverty among the elderly. In fact, it’s that very poverty that got the elderly to demand those safety net programs.
And if Rand was REALLY HONEST, which he isn’t at all, Rand would state, “It is not the business of government to provide for your welfare!” After all, it’s what libertarianism is all about. No damn government whatsoever. Therefore, THE NOTHING would return in all of its glory!
And believe you me, THE NOTHING would be a political loser in the state of Kentucky. And Rand knows this, so he is taking a page from the Trump playbook. Trump promised he would give us something cheaper and better than Obamacare. And if Trump has succeeded in repealing the ACA, we would have another version of THE NOTHING because there was no plan! Trump knew this, but he is a grifter. Lie like a cheap fuckin’ rug and hope you can push off the day of accountability for your deceit.
Worked for Trump, so why wouldn’t it work for Rand Paul?
