Grassley releases FBI form featuring Fusion GPS and the Steele Dossier - Trump loves it [1]

Date: 2025-05-30

Sen. Chuck Grassley released a redacted version of an FBI FD-1057 form, the original date of 9/18/2019. This is the FBI's Electronic Communications form for detailing emails, text messages, or any other type of electronic communications.

Released Wednesday, the 43-page document details interactions with Nellie Ohr (PDF), who worked for Fusion GPS. The company was hired by Marc Elias at Perkins Coie, which then contracted with Christopher Steele, a former MI6 counterintelligence specialist, who produced the Steele Dossier, which in 35 pages, showed Russia's influence in Trump's presidential campaign. It had information that showed Trump was being blackmailed by Russia with a film of Trump with prostitutes in 1987, the golden showers claim, and more. The Dossier was never described as more than an uncorroborated memorandum.

Last night, Trump decided to bring the whole thing up again because he thinks that the release of the FD-1057 form proves there was no collusion between himself and his campaign and Russia. Unfortunately for Donald Trump, it doesn't.

Nellie Ohr worked at Fusion GPS, and her husband, Bruce Ohr, was an associate deputy attorney general at the DOJ.

The clip Trump embedded in his post is with Sean Hannity interviewing a Fox News analyst who wrote a book 6 years ago that tried to absolve Trump, and brings up a meeting between Nellie Ohr and Christopher Steele at the Mayflower Hotel on July 30, 2016, and Crossfire Hurricane is started the next day. The FBI investigation, under FBI Director James Comey, led to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe from 2017-2019 and the subsequent damning report that showed 10 instances of obstruction of justice by Trump himself and led to criminal convictions of staffers including Roger Stone and Paul Manafort. Attorney General Bill Barr put out a deliberately confusing memo that allowed Trump to claim that he was completely exonerated. He wasn't in the least.

From the form:

"At the Mayflower meeting Steele advised Bruce Ohr that he had provided a particular special FBI agent two reports while Glenn Simpson had four reports on the following matters:

Carter Page had met with high level officials in Russia. Page met with Sechin and one other person. The media had already documented Page's trip to Russia. The FSB had Trump over a barrel. Oleg Deripaska was furious at Paul Manafort and was making a case against him.

Mary Jacoby is Glenn Simpson's wife. Simpson was Nellie Ohr's boss at Fusion GPS. Mary thought Glenn should get credit for the Dossier, not Steele.

From the FD-1057 form.

The claim made about the FD-1057 form is that it shows that Nellie Ohr lied to Congress about who knew what, how much and when, and that she had worked with the FBI and DOJ far more than she testified to.

If she had contact with Christopher Steele, so what? He was working for Fusion GPS and so was Nellie Ohr.

Whether or not Nellie Ohr "lied" before Congress makes absolutely no difference to factual evidence compiled by the FBI, the DOJ and the Mueller investigation.

Grassley, Hannity and Trump seem to think they've got a "gotcha" moment. They don't.

If Nellie gave information to her husband, Bruce, while saying she was unaware of a DOJ probe into Trump's campaign and Russia, that can still be true. She was simply being a whistleblower.

From the FD-1057 form:

Nellie said before Congress, "I worked on a project looking into the relationship of Donald Trump with organized crime, a (sic) Russian organized crime." The project included:

Fusion GPS providing Nellie with materials related to Manafort's travels, to include a list of Manafort's flights. Fusion GPS employee Jake Berkowitz directing Nellie to research Carter Page because he was an advisor to Trump. Nellie's research determined that Carter Page had spoken at a Moscow university. Fusion GPS directed Nellie to research Michael Flynn regarding the relationship he might have with Russia.

A Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act lawsuit revealed 339 pages of emails between Nellie and the DOJ, and Congressman Mark Meadows made a criminal referral to the DOJ implying that she had perjured herself before Congress in not revealing them.

The form rambles on about search terms and Nellie's background and then there is this statement that the "Alfa Dossier" might have come from Fusion GPS.

This led me to a Rachel Maddow clip from 2018 titled" Russia's Alfa Bank fails in lawsuit over Steele's Trump Dossier.

Alfa Bank sued Buzzfeed in 2017 for the publication of the Steele Dossier. This article just gets better and better about really crazy actions being taken by bank officers.

As best as I can make out, the "Alfa Dossier" and the "Steele Dossier" are the same thing. But later on in the form it talks about the Alfa Dossier and Steele Dossier being two completely different things. 23 out of the 43 pages of the form detailed interactions between Fusion GPS, Nellie Ohr, FBI, Bruce Ohr, and Christopher Steele before it gets to actual testimony Nellie gave with Jim Jordan and Rep. Ratcliffe asking the questions. Then there is a bit of Bruce Ohr's testimony.

In a description of a thumb drive with now deleted files given by Nellie's boss at Fusion GPS, Glenn Simpson, to Bruce Ohr, there is the first mention of the "FSB" report. It was not included in the Steele Dossier provided to the FBI.

The FSB is the follow up to the KGB. CHS is Confidential Human Sources. From the form:

"The 'FSB Report' is obviously ficticious. Unlike authentic intel/CHS, the FSB report is full of smoking guns derogatory information sufficient to predicate any investigation interest. For example, the report claims that Donald Trump received an illegal $10 million payment from the Russians while his daughter received a $30 million payment. It claims that there are two movies in circulation (held by Israel, Bulgaria, and Russia) in which President Trump is actually on film engaging in sexual conduct. The report suggests direct communication with a current FSB official and this FSB official allegedly claims the FSB's 'Donald Trump operation' is 'widely known' and an 'open secret' in Russia."

"In direct contradiction to her testimony, Nellie Ohr disseminated her Fusion GPS research to DOJ prosecutors beyond those she identified in her testimony."

As complicated as this whole thing is, I'm really not surprised. I don't think anybody could deal with the kind of detail the FBI put together about transactions between all the individuals involved. It's like Nellie's accusers are saying that she knew about everything happening between all individuals.

Then they get to Bruce Orr. He said he had nothing to do with the Russia-collusion investigation, but there are 15 FD-302 forms, which are used by the FBI to document interviews with witnesses, in the Russia collusion investigation.

We never really get the details of what is in the Alfa Dossier. There is page after page about USB thumb drives being exchanged, files being erased, files being recovered, but only vague descriptions of what was on them.

The whole purpose of this form was to detail events versus testimony by Nellie and Bruce Ohr to be given to the DOJ to see if perjury should be pursued.

I would love to see the FSB report, but it doesn't exist in the wild like the Steele Dossier.

Likewise, no reporter has seen the Alfa Dossier. The last word about it was in May of 2022, when Michael Sussman, who wrote the Trump-Alfa Bank report, testified at his trial for making false statements to the FBI, that there had been typos in the report where DNC and DOJ had gotten mixed up. Seeing as how the bank is Russian, I think when "Alfa Dossier" is brought up, it's the Trump-Alfa Bank report.

After reading the 43 page FD-1057 form, does it do anything to say that Trump didn't do what is detailed in the Robert Mueller report? Not in the least. It brings out all sorts of new leads that can be followed to help prove that Donald Trump had been groomed as a Russian asset. That Trump could have had ties with Alfa Bank in money laundering. Ties with Russian mafia. It will also dredge up the Trump with prostitutes story. The FBI must have a copy of both the Alfa Report and the FSB Report. It's Freedom of Information Act time.

The form in its redacted version was apparently given to Chuck Grassley by FBI Director Kash Patel to try to discredit the investigations into Donald Trump.

That effort just failed. Anybody can now read the form and go: "What about that..?" In trying to possibly get Nellie and Robert Ohr tried for perjury, they have put Donald Trump right back into the crosshairs of Crossfire Hurricane.

So far, main stream media has completely overlooked Trump's post. You're getting it first, here.

Have I blown things out of proportion as I am wont to do? We'll see.

The Steele Dossier is avaliable as photos of the pages as a PDF.
