Trump's Air Force One deal with Qatar not finalized, being reviewed by prospective legal teams: Sources

Despite previous claims from the Department of Defense that the United States has officially accepted the luxury Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet from Qatar, the United States and Qatar have not yet finalized the details of the agreement, which are still being reviewed by the prospective legal teams, according to a White House official and sources familiar with the discussions. A White House official stated that the White House's legal team is currently finalizing the details of the gift, working on a memorandum of understanding -- or MOU -- between the United States and Qatar. The Washington Post first reported the news. The plane from Qatar is currently in the United States, according to sources familiar with the matter as well as President Donald Trump, who confirmed the plane was here. However, Qatar wants to clarify the details surrounding the transfer, specifically emphasizing that the Trump administration was responsible for initiating the discussions about the donation of the luxury jet to the U.S. government, sources familiar with the negotiations said.

Farmers warn staple crops are becoming impossible to grow under extreme heat — here's what you need to know

Scorching temperatures in several of India's key vegetable-growing regions are slowing production, driving up prices for consumers. Pune, located in the western Indian state of Maharashtra, is struggling with vegetable supply shortages due to intense heat and water shortages in several major growing regions that supply the area, The Bridge Chronicle reported. This, in turn, is driving up prices on produce such as okra, eggplant, cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, and fenugreek. According to the publication, the crisis is leading many households to change their spending habits. Some are opting for more affordable vegetables or reducing their consumption of costlier greens and heat-sensitive varieties.

Canada fires to carry smoke into US once again

After a quiet stretch in 2024, wildfire smoke from Canada is once again drifting into the United States. This time, AccuWeather meteorologists say that smoke will drift through parts of the Midwest over several days. Several large active wildfires have been burning from British Columbia to Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Canada. The majority of the fires were believed to be man-made. "Many of the fires were started by human activity, such as debris burning near cabins, carelessness with ATVs and UTVs in dry grass, picnics and firepits placed in dry areas, and general inattention to fire conditions," according to Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency Vice President of Operations Steve Roberts.

Major automaker delivers powerful blow to Tesla with stripped-down EV work truck: 'The longest range EV the outlet has ever tested'

Chevrolet is breaking barriers with its latest electric work truck, which has set a new record for the longest distance covered on a single charge. In an independent, real-world range test by Edmunds, the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV Work Truck traveled 539 miles, exceeding its official EPA estimate of 492 miles. According to InsideEVs, this makes it "the longest-range electric vehicle the outlet has ever tested," beating the previous record-holder, the GMC Sierra EV Denali, which clocked up 507 miles. The truck owes its range to its large 205 kilowatt-hour battery pack, the same powerhouse found in other GM electric models like the Hummer EV. Unlike its luxury siblings, however, the Silverado EV Work Truck keeps things minimal: smaller wheels, no flashy tech, and a stripped-down interior, all of which help reduce weight and boost performance.

6 tons of cocaine seized from "narco sub" and buried stashes, videos show

Authorities seized more than six tons of cocaine from a semi-submersible vessel — a so-called "narco sub" — and from two underground hiding places discovered in Colombia, the country's navy announced this week. Officials released video of the narco sub being intercepted off the country's Pacific coast, as well as video showing officers and a sniffer dog locating stashes of cocaine that were buried underground. The navy also released an image of more than 100 packages of the alleged narcotics laid out on the shore next to a military boat. Officials said the street value of the seized cocaine was estimated to be about $300 million.
