As Leopards Eat MAGA Faces, Trump Shoots the Rest of America in the Face [1]

A couple days ago, after illegally cancelling most every federal grant given to Harvard University, trump declared that he should take $3 Billion in grants from Harvard and send all these grants to trade schools. A “badly needed investment” he says. That indeed is true - investing in trade schools is a beneficial and necessary choice to help maintain critical jobs and a future for the working class, in a country where no one can afford college any more. It is something any president would be working on, (after they finished taking care of other vital American priorities such as rage tweeting about Bruce Springsteen, of course.) In fact, that sounds very much like something Biden would have done - and something that Republican legislators would then have passionately fought against, something trump would have mocked in a late night twitter session on the toilet, and something the rest of MAGA would have ranted against in our faces as the spittle flew.

Oh, wait, Biden did do something very similar!

I’m not sure how the GOP legislators and MAGA morons reacted to those Biden/Harris grants, or if trump has rescinded any of those grants at this point. There is a considerable chance that they responded exactly as I just described, but that is not the focus of my story today, so I will have to look into that another day.

The focus of this post is to discuss why trump wants to take $3 Billion in government grants from Harvard University and award them to trade schools. The reason that trump wants to take $3 Billion in grants from Harvard and give them to trade schools is because trump is a complete and utter moron, and has zero understanding of what these US Government grants to Harvard actually are.

As trump rubs his two functioning neurons together to compose his tweet, he clearly believes that the United States Government is giving free money to Harvard University so that it can operate, freeload, and teach more Woke and DEI to its students. Nobody who surrounds trump is correcting him, or explaining to him or to us, anything different, so we can only conclude that everyone surrounding trump also has zero idea what these Harvard grants are or how government grants work.

You see, when the United States government has a very large problem it wishes to solve, a project that is designed to address a substantial and important issue that affects Americans all across the country, a project whose successful solution is critical to the future strength, prosperity, and ongoing leadership of the United States, it offers a grant to anyone who is qualified to work on this problem. It is simple outsourcing, since the US government does not itself have enough scientists, researchers, labs, facilities, and support staff to undertake said project on its own (even in the days before DOGE and RFK!). So I suppose they send out an RFP, a request for proposal, and whoever believes they have the experience, knowledge, scientists, researchers, labs, facilities, equipment, administrative staff, and enough fancy binders to undertake this immense project, they submit a detailed and informative grant proposal. Probably in a large binder with flashy graphics. And the US government then reviews these proposals and awards this grant to the most qualified institution and/or the one with the coolest looking binder. (Did you hear that? “Qualified institution”… literally the opposite of “DEI.” You would think MAGA would really love this process!)

(And while I don’t wish to take a side-journey into “waste and fraud” at the moment, just know that when a serial liar uses “waste and fraud” or “antisemitism” as his justification for all his horrific actions, know that when he is giving these justifications again right now, he remains, as always, a serial liar. As with USAID projects, these grantees at Harvard are given serious audits, and just the whiff of impropriety means they will lose their grant funding and never be able to receive another one.

So, while all of MAGA-dom screams “wAsTe AnD fRaUd!!!!!!!” in relation to the murder of USAID and the dismembering of the Department of Education, and screams “aNtIsEmItIsM tErRoRiStS” to the cancellation of Harvard grants, know that they are utter and complete idiots who don’t have the slightest idea what they are talking about. And when the mainstream media repeats the lines that “Donald Trump is destroying USAID, the Department of Education, and Harvard because he claims ‘waste and fraud’ and ‘antisemitism’ and ‘terrorism,’” and the mainstream media does not immediately follow up that line with “but this is an utter and complete lie because of the following facts…” know that the mainstream media has performed journalistic malpractice and has failed its job so badly that it should disembowel itself in shame.)

So the reason that Harvard University (and other Ivy League and top US universities) has received so many of these grants, and has been “given” so much of this “free” grant money from the United States government, is because they are one of the most highly qualified and capable institutions to undertake these huge, complex, and vital projects that the US government wishes to solve. It is not because Harvard is “woke” or “DEI” or “full of waste and fraud” or “getting free handouts from the government.” They have the brightest and most experienced scientists and researchers, the labs and facilities, the support staff, and the ability to quickly set up, build, staff, run, and maintain these colossal and important projects.

Here are some of the projects that these United States Government grants awarded to Harvard were supporting - projects that were critical to America, Americans, and the future strength of our country:

Neurodegenerative diseases including ALS and Alzheimer's

Cancer and chemotherapy

Infertility

Organ transplants

Heart disease

Infectious diseases and Pandemic preparedness

Tuberculosis

Astronaut health and Microgravity exposure

Artificial intelligence

Quantum science

Education and digital learning

Most all of these projects were addressing immediate, critical issues. These projects, plus other projects that might not appear to offer immediate results, often lead to breakthroughs and innovations that reap Billions of dollars for the US economy, save and improve millions of lives, as well as keep the US on the cutting edge of science and technology.

To return to the top of this story and trump’s latest plan… I mean, I know that trade schools have some nice facilities, good teachers, and bright students… but I’m not sure they are prepared to take on a massive neurological disease study initiated by the US Government and which is critical to every American affected by ALS or Alzheimer's…?

Meanwhile, donald trump sits on his toilet, with his greased-up French fry fingers tapping away at his screen, believing with all two functioning neurons that the US government has been giving Harvard University “free handouts” so that they could be more “woke” and “DEI” - without having the slightest clue that he is shooting America in the face. He is causing unthinkable damage, literally killing hard-won decades of American leadership in science and research. And the damage is so severe that this damage is likely permanent. This American leadership in science and research, once destroyed by trump, is not coming back, for decades… if ever.

donald trump is also decimating, in real-time, an entire generation of American scientists. Many of these grants went to graduate students and PhD students, to support their work, their research, and their education. These grants were an investment in their future, and in the future of American scientific leadership. And without these grants, their education here is done. It is already happening in numbers that would boggle the mind of everyone who read about it, if the media were to actually do their job and report on it. These scientists either simply abandon their fields, their passion, their careers… or they move to Europe or China, where they are now welcomed with open arms - to countries who are more than happy to support these future scientific leaders, countries who are more than happy to strengthen their scientific leadership in the world, at the direct expense of former American scientific leadership.

It is so mind-boggling stupid. donald trump is so mind-boggling stupid. Every single one of his MAGA followers who parrot him and defend this, and spittle “wAsTe AnD fRaUd!!!!” all across the internet, without knowing the tiniest bit of factual information behind what they are talking about, without having the slightest most miniscule clue as to the decades-long damage that is being done… they are simply mind-boggling stupid. Full stop.

Don’t argue with them. Don’t debate with them. They are hopeless. They are mind-boggling stupid. For example, here is every one of the MAGA responses I received over a three day “discussion” on my Nikon camera-related facebook page, where I simply asked anyone to “please tell me the benefits of trump’s tariffs on Nikon cameras”:

"Why are you making this political?"

"One could argue that prices are actually lower now than in 1995."

"F%*$ You."

"This is BS!!"

“Take your political bull$%&* post to a political page.”

"You are a hypocrite for attacking / criticizing trump because Biden wears diapers."

"It is a small price to pay now for the long term benefits." me: "What are the long term benefits?" them: "You're just biased." me: "What are the long term benefits?" them: "You just believe everything the mainstream media tells you." me: "What are the long term benefits?" them: "Look at the data!" me: “What are the long term benefits?" them: “This is what happens when you don’t study history!” me: "What are the long term benefits?"…

"Why are you stirring up the $%*t???"

"If you can't afford the tariffs, the camera is too expensive for you anyway!!!"

"You are pathetic."

You might have noticed, not one of them addressed the long-term benefits of tariffs. Not one of them even ventured to give a logical, factual response. Not one of them even tried to explain the potential positive effects tariffs. Not one. Not even close.

If you have energy, perhaps instead you can stand up to the media. Point out how all they are doing is parroting trump’s lies, normalizing every ridiculous thought that pops out of his mouth-hole, without ever calling him out on it, without explaining that everything he says is total and utter nonsense and lies.

There is an informative and entertaining video by a wonderful and brilliant young physicist Angela Collier, which is directly related to this topic, called “why functioning governments fund scientific research.” I encourage you to watch it - stick with it through the slow start and her quirky humor - you won’t be disappointed, and you will learn a lot.
