3 billion from Harvard to "Trade schools"? Classic Trump corruption. [1]

The attempt by the Trump regime to halt 3 billion dollars of grant money due to Harvard and instead “Redirect it to trade schools” is peak Trumpism. It combines his two very favorite things- revenge and grift. He KNOWS this playbook.
1) Take advantage of the already existing vague but intense suspicions and resentment among the base up about “Snobby intellectual elites”. Trump is appealing to MAGA’s unending appetite for wallowing in victimhood, so is is simply going back to a tried and true boogeyman of the “College educated elites who look down upon working people”. This, of course is utter bullshit but like every other lie he tells, it has become an article of faith through sheer repetition among the base that they are somehow victims when our nation has universities that are recognized as being among the best in the world. HIs use of the words “Trade school” is the ridiculously transparent con that he uses to convince the red hat lemmings that he is on the side of the working man. (Suuure...EVERYTHING about him and his policies are all about helping the blue collar working class #s)
2) Attempt to act like an all powerful king by simply declaring that he has the power to control research funding to universities. This is a total flex to his base who LOVE it when he “Puts those pointy headed intellectuals” in their place with “Strong moves”.
3) When the courts inform him that he does not have this power, play to the base and complain about a “Judicial coup” just because the courts say that he has to, you know, obey the laws of the land.
4) I am all in favor of government support of trade schools. The nation needs trained tradespeople and for many people, being trained in a profession taught at a trade school is a better alternative than a classic university education. However, there is almost zero chance that much or any of that 3 billion actually goes to legitimate trade schools. If he DOES happen to get his hands on any of that money, just watch who suddenly qualifies as running a “Trade school”. It will be whatever disgustingly corrupt MAGA millionaire who throws up a sign saying “Trade skool” then more importantly publicly kisses Trump’s ass and of course gives some form of kickback to Trump by having that “Trade school” invest in Trump’s crypto coin scam….or donate to his library….or pay a million dollars for. dinner at Mar a Lago. The opportunities to pay the president are many. They just have to pick one.
He may be chaotic and undisciplined in almost every area of his life, but he DOES remain remarkably consistent when it comes to his two biggest priorities- revenge against perceived enemies and nakedly brazen self enrichment. This Harvard affair offers him the opportunity for both. I bet he is mad that he never thought of it sooner.
